GFC Winter Bi-Annual Ball 2014/15

=== DATA LINK ESTABLISHED ===

Comman....I mean, Captain Sophie Johnson reporting. "Captain" is a rank I'm never going to get used to. You find yourself standing up at the podium, presenting your acceptance speech and the awards and promotions don't quite sink in straight away.

A lot of time and effort was put into this year's Winter Bi-Annual Ball. You had people from across the fleet providing assistance wherever they could - a joint effort of talent to create a masterpiece that everyone could be proud of. After all, the masterpiece represents all the hard work that each individual puts in every day; that's why the Bi-Annual Ball is such a fantastic event to be at.

Although, you can't forget the men and women behind the scenes of the event - making sure it runs smoothly. Without their cooperation and attention, the Ball wouldn't have been a big of a success as it was. The doors opened at 1pm SLT, with the ball starting promptly at 2pm.
Pre-Dance Event organized by Social Events!

Admiral Snapper Desade and the Social Events team put together a big pre-Ball Dance event in the Galaxy Plaza outside the Roddenberry at 10am SLT. Anyone and everyone could come along, grab their dancing shoes; a partner and dance away until the main event. Over the coming hours, members and guests flooded into the Plaza in their attire and relaxed with friends and colleagues until it was time to step up.

As you stepped through off the turbolift inside the Roddenberry, a chime could be heard from the doors at the end of the corridor as you approached them. As they chime open, you become exposed to a mixture of excitement and nervousness. A fantastic ball scene - built by the miracle workers in Engineering - based around the theme the people voted for: Orions!
Orions sweep the room!
RoBo....I mean, Terzon and his "groupies" announced the start of the main event. In an attempt to take control of the Ajax, Terzon offered to give Vice-Fleet Admiral Mechanique a dance in honor of the friendly relationship between the Syndicate and the Federation. Unable to resist the luxurious women before him, he provided the Orions with access to his ship.....or did he? Allowing the Orions time to believe they have control of the flagship, the Vice-Fleet Admiral turned the tables by pointing the ships weapons at this very location - backed into a corner, the Orion women questioned the Vice-Fleet Admiral about the situation. He revealed that Terzon contacted Starfleet about the active Syndicate cell on the planet and that it had already been taken care of.

An amazing roleplay to kickstart what would be a great event for all!

Special Thanks to:
Cobramax Mechanique who played himself
RoBobby McMillan who played Terzon and creator of the storyline
Langy Moorlord who played the Admiral's entourage (last-minute!)
Debbydo who played Mendora
T'Lara Ek'Tal (melodyparis) who played Variel
LKG01A Duke who played Sterova

As the roleplay finished, each participant joined the rest of the attendees at tables built and provided by Merky (richmerk). The scene itself reminiscent of the typical Orion scenes seen around the Star Trek TV franchises seen broadcast. An excellent replica built by Merky and his Engineering gnomes! A big thank you must go out to them for their hard-work so that the Ball could take place!

Fleet Admiral Katrina Bixby and Vice-Fleet Admiral Cobramax Mechanique took their places at the head of the room, people were called up in alphabetical order in groups of ten at a time to accept their awards and/or promotions and present their speeches.
Officers bow down in front of the Admiralty as they prepare to give their speeches!
Over the passing hours, many brilliant officers gave their inspiring speeches to the rest of the audience. Words that were spoken were ones of solitude and meaning - heartfelt words that officers of the fleet understood and reciprocated. The Bi-Annual Ball is an emotional time for the officers of the fleet, rewarded for their hard work and exceptional effort over the previous six month and the day comes when they're allowed to kick back and enjoy themselves.

After the awards and promotions were collected, everyone gathered outside for a sublime fireworks show put together by newly promoted Admiral TimoL McMillan! Now is was time for the dancing and celebratory drinking to commence!
Fantastic fireworks display by TimoL McMillan to send the dancing away!

A Burning Building

The date: August 1st, 2014.
The time: 7 AM SLT.
The place: Aeon sim.

It was a day like many others. There were some people building in the sandbox, several guests were shooting at each other in the weapons sandbox, and otherwise everything was quiet. But it wouldn't be for long. All of a sudden, the monorail station and the base of the Aeon tower caught fire! What had happened? Had there been explosions? And... was that Sophie, now trapped behind the flames?

It quickly turned out to be part of an OTS: Final Class scenario. Lt.jg T'Lara Ek'Tal, our (acting) Academy Commandant, wanted to once again experience a Final Class, first-hand. So, she asked me (Commodore RoBobby McMillan) to give such a class.

That meant, of course, that this scenario was big. Very big. But people could have expected that, since previous Final Classes hosted by myself, included the collapse of the immense Jenga tower, the crash of the MRU, and much, much more.

I'm pleased to say Lieutenant Ek'Tal passed with flying colours. Well done! Of course, no-one had expected anything differently.

There will be another OTS: Final Class this saturday, august 2nd, at 11 AM SLT. Feel free to attend, for once again, I have something big in mind. For that, we'll need people. Lots and lots of people... Hope to see you there!

RoB
(PS: oh, don't worry: the fires were quickly put out, and security had been informed of the class. A big 'thank you' to everyone who participated!)

As Picard would "Make it Snow".

Tactical Training - Drones

Well, this was certainly unexpected.

Sophie Johnson (me), Little Astro and Dustin Thunderstorm took to the Tactical Arena in Sovereign in light of the recent installation of the Practice Drone rezzer that Gokyu Ugajin placed in there for us.
C1C Little Astro
Lt. JG Sophie Johnson

Armed with a SIS Rapid-Firing Minigun, Little Astro wandered inside. Not knowing that his OIC had other plans. I walked in with my M8 Avenger Assault Rifle, fresh from Mass Effect and charged my Armor's shields. Without sufficient protection, I was sure that Astro would fall to his death - I was soon proved otherwise.

Jedi Master - Dustin Thunderstorm
Dustin quickly followed us in. Drawing his Lightsabre, he was determined to give those Drones a run for their money. He put up a valiant fight but it seemed the drones were resistant to Lightsabre energy - bullets on the other hand - not so much.

Sophie - Shields almost gone...
After taking down numerous drones, Astro and myself began to run out of ammunition. Well, he was - he had a minigun for crying out loud! I also had another excuse to get out of there. My shields needed time to recharge themselves. After three waves of continuous fighting - they needed it.

Astro - running low on ammo...

We took out another four waves of drones. I continually raised their HP (health points) as the waves continued to increase. The squad size of the drones was raised to it's highest setting (30) and the challenge got life threatening. My shields were close to failing and Astro was running out of options and energy...

...We had little choice to make one final attempt to take down the Beast itself.

Legendary Hero - Dustin!!
Our fearless friend, Dustin, took centre stage. With his dragon-blood running through his veins  he transformed himself into his Dragon form. He took in a deep breath and began swarming the battlefield with his terrifying and intense flames. Burning and melting every drone that tried to stop him, he saved his friends from the gruesome slaughter taking place - a true hero emerged within the Jedi-Dragon-Man today. Remember his name - Dustin Thunderstorm!

It makes you wonder. After all our efforts against all the drones - you still didn't see the outcome of the drones fate. Bullets flying everywhere, clips being ejected, new ones being inserted - and - not forgetting the flames: You can see below what happened to the metal foes.
Poor Drones...
Till next time on this special Tactical post!

Sophie's Rez Day Party

Its hard to believe that around a year ago a red haired Avatar entered the Aeon sandbox and ended up helping create a football pitch. Well, that avatar Hydregion Resident (better know now as Sophie Johnson) has come a long way since then, boasting the rank of Lt.Jg and previously being a tactical assistant lead who has now transferred over to being the assistant lead at medical, not including her regular Rping and permanent activities in DS19 and has been integral to its resurgence.

To celebrate her rez day and say a little thank you Social Events and Richard Weatherwax help throw a little party for her in DS19's bar, plenty of people came in to wish her a happy rez day, dance and knock back the synthehol which was on offer.

I'm sure Sophie would like to thank all those who came along to say hi.

Wacky Racers!

After watching Snapper do his magical dance or whatever it was he was doing - me and Rich decided to have a little fun. At this point, I was already sitting on my motorbike and that image sent a spark through Rich's matrix.

That spark created a whole new thinking process which made him dig up an old Racing Track from his inventory. After rezzing it above Deep Space 19 in Sovereign, I rezzed another bike but in Rich's favourite color (Black) and we decided to have a three lap race.

Lap ----- Rich ----- Sophie
 1    ----- 0:41 ----- 0:46
 2    ----- 0:31 ----- 0:40
 3    ----- 0:35 ----- 0:36

As you can see from the lap times, it was a photo finish! Rich won by one second! I wasn't disappointed but I enjoyed the race. :D

Rich ahead at the beginning

Sophie took the lead on lap two!

Holding onto a slim lead....
Retook the lead on Lap 3....

Research: Anti-Gravity Walk!

This is LT Sophie Johnson - once again - bringing you another peek at what Research have been doing over the past week. This time, we're up at Deep Space 19 in Sovereign and we'll be taking a stroll - but... this'll be no ordinary stroll.

No sir, this stroll takes place on the hull of the station itself. Using a rectangular object, Commander Richardjrn Weatherwax and myself decided to go space-walking on the hull of DS19. We enjoyed it so much, we thought we'd share our experience with you!

Of course, the experience is really something that you outta try out for yourself as just watching it is gobsmacking - actually participating in the space-walk is awestriking!

Anyway, see for yourself.
This is me, signing off! Until next time, readers!

Research: JCS Repair System

This is LT Sophie Johnson and I've got an inside peek for you guys!

As you already know, Commander Richardjrn Weatherwax designed and created the JCS combat system. This was originally installed on the Gryphon and has also been used in many different AAC events and in a couple of Tactical scenarios as well.

However, today with the help of your local blue alien - he has created a non-combative way to use the JCS system. Instead of blowing stuff up, it now repairs something! In the video below, you have Rich with a cube in his right hand. That cube is the repair module for the JCS Repair System and it's components. Meanwhile, you have me (the blue alien) in the background shooting the JCS object and undermining all of Rich's hard work.

Meh, who am I kidding? I couldn't do that. See below and evaluate for yourself.

See you next time!

"Pfft....screw gravity!"

Lately on YouTube, a developer called "TomSka" has created several short-length movies to keep us all amused. It includes time-travel, alien attacks and even pointless buttons - but typically; one person or hologram has to step over that imaginary line.

Richardjrn Weatherwax is a close follower of TomSka's work and calls the 'asdfmovie' series - and I quote - "EPICNESS". In TomSka's 'asdfmovie3', one character decides to do the impossible and literately "screw gravity". In SL, that's pretty hard to do but only a hologram would be crazy and insane enough to even try.
(Above is the small clip from asdfmovie3)
Rich screwing gravity in DS19.
Rich looking up at Debby from above.

Sophie taking no notice of the upside down hologram.

Jimmy Vehrous is so not impressed.
Till next time guys!

It Shall Be Done

Earlier, I posted that PO1 Silver Visage was in the midst of building a large-scale version of an Excelsior Class. Well, after 12 hard and long hours of work and effort - he has produced a tremendous final build.

Pictures of the finished vessel are below.

Well, you can't say he hasn't done a fine job of it. ^_^

Silver Shipyards

Now, we all know people are either talented or capable of being exceptional builders; but when it comes down to it - we don't like to admit it. Recently, the Aeon Sandbox has been teeming with life and has been used for a variety of reasons. This time, it's a shipyard.

PO1 Silver Visage has been working on a project for quite some time. For the past few days, I've been following his progress through the interest of the blog and to say I'm impressed with his skills is an understatement. His attention to detail and the ability to capture and construct an image is brilliant!
Excelsior in the Silver Shipyard
This his is latest project. In an attempt to build models, Silver imagined it possible to retain as much detail from the original image and ship as possible, so making use of the space in the Sandbox - he's constructing a large version of the Excelsior. More teaser images are below.

Although he still has the Nacells and Deflector Array to add - in addition to the remaining textures, I'd say it's looking pretty crew worthy.

Dance Rehearsal?

Interesting scenes here in the Aeon Sandbox this morning...we have a dancing group. Probably not your typical dance either - so it's probably best if it's left unsaid. Anyway, we got our correspondent down there and got a quick snapshot before an Admiral caught her.

Night Runer, Gokyu, Sereana, Sophie and Dustin all rehearsing.

They just can't stop dancing?!
I think we'd better prepare Medical for sprains and torn muscles because these folk don't look to be your professional dancers eh?

(And yes, Dustin changing is part of the routine - another sneek peek. :D)

Klingon Kapture!

Kal Aie - NEW Lead of Tactical
As you all know - the position for being the Lead of the Tactical division has been in the open for quite some time. Well, today I bring thy people of GFC some news!

Lieutenant Kal Aie was awarded the position after our beloved Admiral Cobramax Mechanqiue made the final decision early this morning. This follows as the Klingon strolled into the Sandbox and cheerfully broke the news to his comrades!

That cheerful and polite Klingon (is there any other kind? ^_^) declared that he was the new lead of the Tactical division. However, there was more to come. In his babble, he spoke the following:

"The admiral appointed me tactical lead this morning. There should be official announcement, but I'm proud to inform my closest friends right here and right now that my first act is to nominate Dustin and Sophie as assistant leads to the tactical group."

Dustin, the eager and friendly guy that he is - has been Assistant Lead of Tactical for quite some time now. But it's good to always have someone there to back him up and help him right? Frankly, I was surprised to hear that Kal had made me the other Assistant Lead.
Sophie Johnson - Assistant Lead of Tactical
Dustin Thunderstorm - Assistant Lead of Tactical

Klingons usually sing songs and speak of the glorious tales that wreack from victory. I can imagine that this Kapture by our resident Klingon should prove to be the challenge that desevers the song and story...wouldn't you agree?

New Races Found?

<datadump>
Incoming Log Transmission From Sophie Johnson (hydregion Resident) Being Rerouted Through ERH Channels

==BEGIN LOG==

On October 13, 2011 in the Aeon Sandbox...

*thinks back*

I remember talking to a blue woman. Her name being Liara (Janel Doune); she was tall, had a pointed head and wore a black catsuit...quite revealing if I must say, the kind of clothing an alien like her should wear! Now, I'm pretty sure I've seen that somewhere before.

Oh yes! I've seen it in Mass Effect. Mass Effect refers to these blue pointed headed aliens as "Sexy, beautiful, intelligent and powerful". It also gives their race, the Asari. The Asari are known for their biotic powers, their superior intelligence and their extreme life spans; reaching all the way to 1000 years.

Well, GFC is now home to the latest addition of the Sci-Fi universe. The Asari.

To be quite honest, I wouldn't mess with them. Asari come in all different shapes and sizes. Including professions. Such as Commando's, Medical practioners, Scientists and even Engineers. Asari are also known to have a right attitude problem if they don't like something.
