New Bj Ship Join The Fleet

Two new ships from the Bj fleet got a public airing this week. Firstly was the black sleek Bj interceptor which appeared in a variety of events in the last 7 days. Its initial showing was on wednesday's AAC event when it stood up well against a handful of GFC planes and again on the friday's AAC event defending the DS19 station from attack giving it its first proper exposure to the group.

The other ship is the bajoran raider a transport ship which holds 4 people and has a canopy which opens and closes. These ships were originally made a year ago, but didn't really find a home, but with the new emphasis on races with ships and accessories associated with them being created plus new updated scripts, the planes are a welcome addition to the fleet and come just in time for when the Cardassian fleet of ships start making an appearance.

If you want to fly one of these ships come to the hanger bay in DS19 and click the ship rezzer button to fly a guest version. These ships and more will be rolling out across various locations in the sims over the next few days and weeks, so keep your eye open and reach for the skies.

The Cardassians Are Here....

With the Tension between the Federation officers on DS19 and the Cardassian Union escalating over the last months , Starfleet and Central command have come up with a Solution they believe will help calm the waters . Star fleet has ordered a young Lieutenant to report to DS19 to serve as a Ambassador.

Silence is all that can be heard throughout the entire station as the "Cardassian ship" Docks on DS19.
This is the first Cardassian Ship that has been allowed to dock for months and due to the new set of orders that came down from starfleet command leaving the station commanders hands tied they were forced to cooperate.

a slight hiss can be heard as the the shuttle bay doors decompress and open.
Then out of the Dark shadows of the Cardassian steps into the DS19 Lieutenant J.G Mollsen a young cardassian Starfleet Officer chosen to serve as a ambassador.
But then all of a sudden behind her steps into the light....Gul Corak.

Gul Corak Looks around slowly and takes in a deep breath as though he is remembering something from the past " just like coming home " he says with a coy smile. " things have changed a bit since I had command of this station " Corak pushes past the small crowd and makes his way into the main part of the station.

Lieutenant Mollsen stands at the entrance watching the Gul, she then turns her Attention to the Commanding star fleet officer and says "

Lieutenant J.G Kendra Mollsen Reporting for duty sir Permission to come aboard

United Races Of DS19

Its always been a thought that the best way to stimulate the actions of anything is to put it in plain sight and this has been done with some of the alien race avatars Kendra Mollsen (Koreeah Resident) has created with the assistance of Langy Moorlord. From the teleport points at DS19 and the bar, vendors have been placed with trek races like ferengi, orion, klingon, bajoran  Cardassian, Andorians etc with more scheduled to appear, plus an additional one for uniforms..

Over the week or so its been up we've seen a definite increase in alien races around the station giving it more of a trekkie feel as the region starts fleshing itself out as an area filled with different species.

I've certainly thought its always better to aid in a community being built by not trying to force an issue, but instead of requesting something, encouraging it, making the content available and watching as people naturally embrace it.

As more and more people encounter the placed avatar races available, the more they are selecting a race and becoming that character. I think it shows how its better not to tell people what they should choose, but instead give them the freedom to choose on their own, that way the expectation is your own and not someone elses.

Your character is what you created, not what someone else may feels should be placed, theres more investment over something you develop as then no one can tell you how you should be acting.

Sophie's Rez Day Party

Its hard to believe that around a year ago a red haired Avatar entered the Aeon sandbox and ended up helping create a football pitch. Well, that avatar Hydregion Resident (better know now as Sophie Johnson) has come a long way since then, boasting the rank of Lt.Jg and previously being a tactical assistant lead who has now transferred over to being the assistant lead at medical, not including her regular Rping and permanent activities in DS19 and has been integral to its resurgence.

To celebrate her rez day and say a little thank you Social Events and Richard Weatherwax help throw a little party for her in DS19's bar, plenty of people came in to wish her a happy rez day, dance and knock back the synthehol which was on offer.

I'm sure Sophie would like to thank all those who came along to say hi.

One of those weeks

Its been one of those weird weeks which gets no weirder than ponies at DS19 bar..I kid you not colorful rainbow ponies knocking back the fruit juice like it was water to a thirsty man. Now, we've seen some strange sights in the bar but a pony lap dancing.....Even I had to recheck the content of the glass I was drinking....Liquid = Check, 60% proof = Check, enough alcohol to kick a mule off a stool = Check.

We also had "Talk Like A Pirate Day"....Yes it is a day....People were encouraged to come down to the beach in sovereign, throw on some piratey costumes, eye patch, wooden legs to shiver their timbers and Ooh Arrr their way through about 8 hours of dancing and tales of pirate like acts upon the open waves or maybe sovereign lake which ever was more likely to be plausible.

Daleks Host Sophie's Party

The bar in DS19 threw another one of its strange parties this time for Sophie Johnson (Hydregion resident) celebrating her redeployment from Tactical to Medical, as she arrived in her Tardis (all sorts of stuff come through the worm hole) she was welcomed by a bunch of guests and a Dalek bar tender, yep you heard that right, a Dalek was tending the bar for the party, special drinks for the occasional were the Davros Double and Dalek Martini (exterminated not stirred).

The Dalek was on good behavior and promised to allow everyone to live at least until the end of the party. As the beatles once sang "A good time was had by all".
Is that what you call a tip, "Exterminate, Exterminate"

DS19 RP: Power Failure

Join the crew of DS19 on another exciting adventure.

This week we will be investigating the mysterious power failures on the station. Last week we discovered after an artifact was beamed into SCI lab 3, we ran a temporal scan, and soon after our systems began to start going offline one by one, then coming back on. Will this mystery ever be solved? Will the crew be able to find how to neutralize the interruptions before we lose Vital systems and fall into the wormhole?

Watching Mars Landing in GFC

Live stream of the landing from Nasa
To celebrate the landing on mars of the latest Nasa rover Curiosity, Screens were place around various points of the GFC, being the sandbox, DS19 bar and onboard CWC wolverine which was parked 100 meters or so above DS19 station.

The Wolverine had an RP to run up to the event with a live screen up there to follow the landing as it happened. Some chose to watch in the sandbox, while a crowd gathered in DS19 bar to view the landing together and loud cheers ran out the moment it was announced Curiosity had hit the Mars surface safely.

You could watch a selection of Mars Rover related videos by clicking the screen

DS19: Male Trill Takes to the Pole

You see many strange sights in the Bar at Prosperous Station located high in space over sovereign sim, but not much stranger than a buff male trill doing a turn of the dance pole. For those who witnessed it, therapy and free counseling has been offered. Though the medical advice has been that there isn't any reliable data unfortunately concerning the long term effects of onlookers synaptic pathways who witnessed the half naked trill in green shorts with cut out shamrocks on his behind shaking his galactic bootie.

Elements unite, shadows gather

At DS19, we occasionally hold impromptu RP's. One of those RPs has started to lead a life of its own. Together with the Tow-Kath group, a bunch of us have started to explore a whole new side of roleplaying. See the summary below for more information!

Summary Tow-Koth / DS19 RP
29th of June 2012

Begin Starfleet log.

Commander Edward Auxifur, in command of the USS Gamese, met up with Mr. Vehrous, Doctor Scorpio and Mr. Falworth. The Gamese was on a mission to investigate some strange anomalies. When they got to the anomaly though, they detected an alien ship getting its energy from it. It was the same configuration as they saw the last time, when Commodore McMillan was posessed by one of those powerful aliens.

These shadow-beings hailed the Gamese, and only wanted one thing: Doctor Scorpio. She, along with Mr. Vehrous and Mr. Falworth, were changing. . . evolving, as a result of the illness they had, and the Azure Water they had taken after that.

The Gamese was able to flee from that powerful ship, but not before taking quite some damage. Back on DS19, they met up with Admiral Hellershanks and Commodore McMillan, to discuss what needed to be done now.

There, it was discovered that the changes Vehrous, Scorpio and Falworth were going through, weren't just random. They were evolving into 'elements', of some sorts. Beings of light, of energy, which were the direct opposite of the shadow beings they had encountered earlier. Scorpio seemed to have control over water, Vehrous over fire, and Falworth was the 'fifth' element: the spirit. Only the elements of earth and air were missing. If those were found, then the five of them could just be powerful enough to defeat those shadow beings, also called 'the ascendants'.

As it turned out, Auxifur and McMillan had been infected with the alien disease too. Falworth probed their minds, to see if they had it within him to transform into the light beings that could control the elements. Whether it was fate, chance or coincidence, nobody knew. . . but it seemed McMillan would be able to transform into a being to control air, while Auxifur would be able to transform into one controling the element Earth. That was, if they drank from the Azure water. If they did though, there would be no turning back.

It was a difficult decision to make, but ultimately both officers drank from the Azure water. As they gradually transformed, the group split into two, going to Tow-Kath in order to get a better understanding as to what exactly these five people were transforming into.

The trip there wasn't easy, since the group led by Admiral Hellershanks encountered the enemy ship again. They wanted Doctor Scorpio again, but they didn't say why. During this encounter, Auxifur made a horrific discovery: this ship actually fed off of black holes and similar anomalies. It was unlike any ship Starfleet had ever encountered.

Ultimately, the crew managed to beam down to Tow-Kath, while the enemy ship was still stuck in a black hole. There, Vehrous, Scorpio, Falworth, Auxifur and McMillan came together, and 'connected' with each other. All of a sudden their powers grew stronger, and they managed to send out a beam of light to trap the alien ship.

After that, they went back to DS19 for the night. But to say everyone would have a good night's sleep, was an understatment. Those who were changing, wondered what exactly they were changing into... and those who were not, worried about those who were...

End log.
Starfleet Command, out.

DS19 RP - Finding A Cure For A deadly Virus

Deep Space 19 Station Log: Edward Auxifur & Sophie Jonhnson

The team, consisting of both Commanders of DS19: Commander Phantom and Commodore Desade, along with Senior Science Officer Auxifur and other members of DS19, constantly searched the lands, eventually coming across a winged beast, thought to be the legendary Pegasus.
After meeting a number of others, and gradually learning of the worlds background, the virus was created on Vulcan by a team of Suraeens  and the particular disease had been plaguing the land: Deeja Duru (Vulcan for Healing Trance).

The disease was not fully understood, however it was understood that it only effected vulcans, and resulted in a change in the DNA structure. The team returned to DS19, studying and analyzing a sample of DNA taken from a vulcan resident.

Few days passed, and it was beginning to make sense that the disease was more serious than it was originally thought to be. Doctor Scorpio - a vulcan doctor holding secrets to the disease from the land of Tow-Kath had also been put into a state of coma, and had gone missing over the past few days.

It was thus decided that a team had to be assembled to focus purely on the Deeja Duru virus. Lead by Commander Edward Auxifur, the team was presented a science vessel (U.S.S Gamese) to constantly monitor the planet whilst maintaining orbit.

More days passed, and the members of DS19 faced immediate shock as Doctor Scorpio appeared in DS19 along with another federation team who had retrieved her.

Whilst on Tow-Kath, Captain Auxifur was informed by a dragon-like being that the 'Golden waters' were the cure for the Deeja Duru virus... he had already retrieved a sample, and therefore, after a while of panic and intensity, gave the waters to the unconcious Dr. Scorpio, thus awakening her from her coma state.

Dr.Scorpio informed Auxifur that the golden waters were not the complete cure, and another type of water, the 'Azure waters' back on Tow-Kath supposedly only completed the cure for Vulcans.

It was then found that the disease had unknowingly spread across various quadrants, effecting thousands, even millions who have no idea that they have the disease.

The cure is still unknown - and both DS19 and the world of Tow-Kath must find it, and save millions.

NB: We would like to thank the group from Tow-kath for participating and their kind message after the RP. More info about this RP and their group in later articles.

DS19 Docking

Down at the research division lab the crazy boffins are back at it again, a few weeks ago they installed the automatic docking system. Test where done using the MRU (Mobile Research Unit) to dock with any of the available docking arms in DS19 prosperous space station. The next stage will be the development of new ships which can dock there and releasing a scripting kits for those who want to make ships with docking capability.

Congratulations to Sophie and Rich

The crew of the USS Gibraltar and Social Events would like to wish a very, very warm congratulations to Sophie and Rich, who today were married by Commodore RoBobby McMillan during the USS Gibrolter RP.

Following the RP, Social events quickly jumped to attention at the unexpected wedding, and organized a celebration at the wondrous event!

Prosperous future to Sophie and Rich! And may your children be born with all their pixels in place!

Contact on sensors

In the late hours of duty, DS19 picked up an unknown ship entering from the wormhole; the ship was of unknown configuration and promptly attacked DS19, knocking shields down to 50% with one swift torpedo. The normally silent shift then rushed to attention as the station began to suffer further damage. The ship began to  encircle the station, picking off a Bajoran trade vessel as it attempted to escape from danger.

The Executive Officer addresses the CO about the Klingon

To the shock and horror of the DS19 Ops. crew, another ship entered through the wormhole. The Klingon battle-cruiser claimed that the unknown ship was property of the klingon Empire; the unknown vessel, upon discovering that its master was close by, chose to hide among the wreckage of the destroyed Bajoran trade vessel. DS19 ceased the moment of advantage and fired a high volley of torpedoes with intent to destroy the propulsion system of the ship - with success.

The Klingon Captain transported on-board, and further added to the mystery - this Klingon was not part of the Empire!

The crew of DS19, surprised by a Klingon visitor!

The Klingon ambassador stationed in the embassy on the lower decks of DS19 demanded an audience with the rogue Klingon; who disappeared into the embassy, and despite several screams, was never heard again.

Say to say, Starfleet partied hard after surviving...

Ruth Of Borg

When you think of Medical lead Da5id Weatherwax you think of armored borg who if you look at the wrong way could  shoot nano's into your neck declaring "Resistance is, well forget about it, no point fighting, we'll just win so lay down and take it".  But under all that brutality there must, you would think, be some semblance of compassion left.

Well, on teleporting into quarks, for a split second we saw what could very well be the true drone revealing itself and the true Da5id I can confirmed is Ruth, we don't know much about Ruth Weatherwax and how the borg assimilated Second lifes default female avatar, but we should all take a moment, give silence on knowing that once there was a kind loving heart below all that metal, wires and nano's.

Relay For Life Poetry Exhibit

Early morning on DS19, the station is quiet, a few “night-owls” stroll along the promenade deck, some coming from Quark's some on their way to the popular Ferengi establishment. One night-owl walks into Quark's expecting to hear the usual cacophony of voices in conversation, the loud clinking of glass upon glass, and shouts of “DABO” followed by the laughter of the winners and the grumbling of the losers.

But it is as though she has suddenly lost her hearing. The sounds she hears are quiet whispers, soft laughter and polite conversation with the occasional clink of glass upon glass. Looking around she blinks her eyes to verify in her own mind that she is truly in Quark's and not in the Bajoran Temple and Meditation Room. She notices photographs lining the second floor walls of Quark's and the patrons of the establishment moving from one photograph to the next pausing to read the words that adorn the photographs.

The night-owl stops at the bar, orders a Saurian Brandy, her favorite drink, and walk up the spiral ramp to the second floor to see what everyone finds so interesting.

POETRY! Haiku poetry at that. Verses of three lines containing five syllables, seven syllables and five syllables again. “But they don't even rhyme!”, exclaims a slightly more than inebriated patron again and again as he moves from photo to photo, haiku to haiku.

The night-owl enjoys the Star Trek inspired haiku and the Star Trek related photographs that were matched to each. But when she finishes reading the last haiku after her second circumference of the room, she is curious as to why there is a poetry exhibition in Quark's. Descending the spiral ramp brings her face to face with the DS19 Station Commander, Kaori Juliesse. Who better to ask then the person in charge of the entire space station?

“So, Commander, why is Quark's promoting this haiku poetry exhibition? It is certainly out of character for the famous chain of Ferengi bars”, the night-owl inquires.

The Commander smiles politely, having answered that very same or similar questions at least thirty times that day. “The poet, Starr Jetaime, felt she would be able to help increase the amount donated to Relay for Life in Second Life, by displaying her poetry and asking the people who attend the exhibition to generously donate to help the American Cancer Society because it is Time For A Cure.”

So come on by the DS19 space station in the Sovereign sim of Galaxy Fleet Command in Second Life, and enjoy the poetry and make a generous donation to the Relay For Life and help find the cure.

Sophie Johnson Birthday Girl

Clink Click, sheeesh.....

The sound of tablets being dropped in a glass, head still thumping and why have I woken up with this traffic cone???

After a good old Rp with the Cymru Crew where we tackled a time traveler  who had mysteriously materialized on the bridge of the ship, it was back to DS19 for some well earned R&R or so we thought. Even though the hangover from St.Patrick's Day Weekend was still playing the bongo in our heads, we were informed it was Sophie's (Hydregion Resident) birthday and there was only one thing that could be done other than giving her the bumps and dropping her into sovereigns lake. You know what that was, as in GFC tradition, PARTY LIKE ITS 2375!!!!!!!

We all crowed on the cramp quarks dance floor stage where the boogying was boggling, we strived to jive and thrilled to chill. Some people danced also, but we all had a great time and importantly, so did Sophie...

It was also Dave Fearguis's Bday to....but he didn't grease enough palms with lindens to get a party but we'll mention it anyway :)

DS19: what's going on up there?

When someone leaves a package in brown paper wrapping with "Play Me" scribbled in handwriting a 4 year old would be proud of then there a a few things which come to mind.

1. Its not for me.
2. I wish it wasn't for me.
3.It also has "for the attention of snapper desade", so it is for me.

Anyhow, being the inquisitive guy I am,  I ripping the package open like a struck off surgeon cuts open a patient and pulled out the media device.

On inserting said media in something that could play it I sat back and watched the short clips:

First video was of some Orion girl pole dancing in ways only Orions can.

Second video shows me trying to impress an unappreciative crowd with my guitar skills. They just kept drinking as I play the strings off that guitar, they wouldn't know talent if it shot them in the head at 1000 yards in a headwind.

Stuck...

DS19, Quark's bar. Everything seems to be as it should be. The music is on, there are people sitting at the bar, drinking their cups of tea, ale or some sort of exotic drink. And there is a Commodore stuck in the wall.

Wait...

What?

I honestly didn't mean for that to happen... but that's the thing with the Emdash multitool: if you double-tap an arrow key, it dashes you twenty meters ahead. And sometimes that gets you stuck in the wall. Like now.

It's pretty annoying actually, not getting out of the wall. But at least my feet are a nice place for people to hang their jackets, wouldn't you say?

spacewalk, cakewalk?

DS19 Station log, 2012-02-20, Commodore RoBobby McMillan reporting.

Whoever said that members of the admiralty didn't have to do the dirty work, was lying. One of the communication antennae of Deep Space 19, Prospero Station, was damaged, which meant that while we could still communicate with Starfleet, our signal wasn't as strong as it could be. And since it's station regulation to make sure everyone gets enough zero-g training, I was selected to repair it. Figures.

Sure, it was just a repair like thousands of others. I could do it in my sleep. But I decided to do the sensible thing: to take my time and do a systems check of the easy to access systems outside of the station. It'd take me a while, but at least it'd save me from doing another trip.

It didn't take me long to repair the communications antenna. It was just a matter of realigning it manually, and making sure that next time it could be done automatically. Checking the other systems though. . . now that took more of an effort. I had to float down to the bottom of the station to check the station's core eject mechanism, and then I had to go all the way to one of the lower pylons to make sure the sensor arrays were properly calibrated.

And that was where all the trouble started. I must have accidentally triggered a signal, since all of a sudden, next to me, a container materialised. I recognised it: it was one of those containers the Academy Air Corps used to ferry from here to the USS Tom Paris. This one was a bit different though. It displayed a message that I only had 10 minutes to bring it to the Paris, or it would. . . explode!

I contacted OPS, but there was no response. The crate had some explosives in it that apparently interfered with the comm-signals. Either that, or I hadn't repaired the communications antenna as well as I thought. That didn't matter now though: in less than 10 minutes, this entire lower pylon would be destroyed by the explosion.

I had to act quickly. I tried to push the container off, but it seemed to be magnetically attached to the hull. I wasted a total of three minutes on this, so that I only had 7 minutes remaining. There was still no response from OPS, nor from the AAC... so I decided to take matters into my own hands. One way or another, this container would have to go.

I floated back to one of the docking rings as fast as I could. I entered and took the turbolift to the promenade. There were some strange looks directed at me as I ran by Quark's in a full spacesuit, but that couldn't be helped. I managed to contact OPS as I made my way to the second turbolift, telling them to beam the container away. Apparently whatever interfered with communications also interfered with the transporters... so that was out of the question.

As I made my way down to the AAC's shuttlebay here in DS19, I found myself wondering how much time I had wasted getting here. I took the first shuttle I could find that was large enough to house the container, and I flew outside. When I reached the lower pylon with this container on it, I saw that I was almost out of time: I had 3 minutes remaining.

This was a problem. I must confess, I'm no good at flying. Never was. Even in training, I got shot down all the time. There was one thing I did excel in though: stacking containers. But that was with a specialised shuttlecraft. And it was on the ground. Now I was in space with a shuttlecraft I wasn't familiar with, trying to scoop up an explosive container.

As I opened the rear hatch, I was glad I still had my spacesuit on. The atmosphere escaped from the shuttle, as I brought it closer to the container. Two minutes remaining. I tapped the controls to gently fly the shuttle backwards to scoop up the container... but instead the shuttle collided with it at quite some speed. It could have been the lack of training, or the thick space suit gloves... I don't know. Still, the container hadn't exploded just yet. And the collision had caused the magnetic locks to be broken. It was now floating away... slowly.

One minute remaining. I flew towards the container again, once again trying to scoop it up... but I failed, only pushing the container away more. I watched in shock as the container got grabbed by the planet's gravity. With less than a minute to go, the explosive container plummeted down into the Sovereign area of Galaxy Fleet Command. I quickly pursued as fast as I could.

However, I was too late. Right in front of me I saw an explosion, followed by a shockwave. I managed to bring the shuttle under control, and landed it on the beach in Sovereign. Pieces of debris had to have fallen down here somewhere. I decided that since I had a spacesuit on anyway, I had better take a look under water...

Thankfully, I couldn't find any debris. It turns out GFC and DS19 have escaped a major catastrophe. I'd like to think I had some doing in preventing a disaster, but then again, I might have accidentally caused this to happen as well. Well, we'll let JAG be the judge of that. Right now, I'm just glad that it's over.

Note to self: take some more piloting lessons.

This was Commodore RoBobby McMillan, signing off.
