Quality Girly time......

Debbydo & Kendra Relax

I took some time out to spend some quality time with my friend and  Library Lead Kendra Mollsen.
I showed her my secret  location within the GFC grounds, a place where we can relax and talk about our plans for the future and to relax with the sound of the waves brushing against the jetty and watching the boat sway with the tide.

The cool breeze touching our skin made us feel relaxed and calm which is something we both enjoyed and needed after working hard with our divisions.  We was later joined by our new recruit Beth who also found my secret location and then followed by an old friend kaori.

It was a great time for us girls to relax talk about old times and for Beth to meet some of the crew here in the GFC.

Combadge chirps Lt Cmdr Debbydo could you please report to the station.
Looks at Kendra time to go back to work and thank you for our quality time together and look forward to the next one, gives Kendra and hug and tps to the station.

New Edition to the Pheonix Station

Wolfie relaxing after all his hard work
Our new recruit C3C Wolferine Foxdale was already on his first task of building a monument for the mall in the Phoenix station, carefully monitored by myself keeping him in line :)

This is just one of the amazing things which have been going on in recent months with the young recruit working a long side cadet Richmerk. Together they have made the phoenix bar and I look forward to holding many events here.

A job well done.

Our First Chrome theme

Google Chrome is used by many of us on the blog and we thought, hey, why not make a chrome theme for it. We used a chrome app called MY CHROME THEME from the chrome market and set about making a simple no flair theme.

When installed the app will appear on your apps browser screen and just a click will launch it.

Its a very straight forward and simple process of just loading your picture, changing the tabs and browser bar colours and that's pretty much it, you save it and it becomes publicly available to those who want to download it. A file will save to your computer (don't worry its small and not harmful so say yes to downloading), click the button which appears at the bottom right of your viewer when its finished downloading and it will install. We will be looking at something for other browsers and mobile phone wallpaper at a later date.

Expect more themes coming your way for the fun of its, maybe you can try doing one yourself or there could be official GFC themes made.

If your brave enough, you can make this the theme to your chrome browser by just clicking the link HERE

Don't trust the pilot ... especially if he is a hologram!!

Exhibit A - a partially embedded MRU

Exhibit B - The outcome of the Pegasus Incident

Have you ever thought about, each time you board a shuttle, plane, helicopter about the fact that you are placing your entire future into the hands of one person .... the pilot? Well Debbydo, Snapper, BlackRosePhantom and myself obviously weren't when we decided to go for a trip on the Mobile Research Unit (MRU) and asked the collection of photons known as Richardjrn Weatherwax to fly us somewhere.

In a moment of binary confusion (I don't know whether a 1 became a 0 or a 0 became a 1), the photonic pilot issued the command to warp to 3000 instead of orbit 3000 with the impending result that the MRU became embedded in the cliffs at the edge of Galaxy (see exhibit A above). In a scene reminiscent of TNG's "The Pegasus" some of us were entombed in the cliff, others partially entombed and some completely unscathed.

I thought Starfleet had learned it's lesson from the USS Pegasus and it's phased cloak technology (exhibit B above). So question is .... has Weatherwax gone mad and introduced phase technology in the MRU illegally, or is there something going on we should know about? Where's Security and JAG when you need them?

Klingon Ambassador Transport

Captains Log, stardate 40132.4,

we were given a mission by Starfleet command to go to Quo'Nos and pick up an important Klingon Ambassador, despite my crews history with Klingons. Lieutenant Debbydo Resident seemed to be the most effected, although Ensign Madison seemed to be holding back much aggression toward our Klingon guest.

We were also joined by Major Dos of the Bajoran Militia, he claimed that the Bajorans were very interested in the outcome of the peace talks. after picking up Ambassador Kor we headed towards the specified neutral planet, and en route encountered a Cardassian Warship who demanded to search our vessel, after talks that did not go successfully we were forced to disable their engines and continue on our way. when we were nearing the neutral planet we spotted two more Cardassian warships following us, fearful of the Admirals safety on the planet, i ordered we drop to impulse a safe distance away. they claimed that the warship we encounted was missing, so we told them where to find it, luckily, weapons did not need to be fired in this encounter.

When we arrived at the planet we were informed that i was being blamed for the destruction of three cardassian warships. hopefully, this log, as well as the others we gave to the Admiral will let the truth be known. the peace talks went roughly but successfully, we now have closer ties with our Klingon friends and the chance of falling into war with them was greatly diminished.
End Log

Engineering to the Sandbox ....

Well all know the story too well ... technology is our friend, until it decides to develop a mind of it's own! Even in this century we have the problem. I believe Chief Engineer Scott of the USS Enterprise said "The more you complicate the thing, the easier it is to stuff up the plumbing" (or words to that effect). So answers on a postcard please .... who stuffed up the transporter system?

There we were minding our own business, when in a freak transporter mishap, our very own Captain Snapper Desade was molecularly bonded with a visitor to the sandbox. Oh my what a rather unfortunate turn of events ... Snapper's beloved Ensign Debbydo could only watch in horror as two become one right in front of our eyes.

But do not fear, after a reverse of the transport cycle and a little reconfiguration of the pattern buffer and matter stream all was put right again! .... Phew that as a close one!

Remind you of a Spice Girls song? .... Two become one

Another sad day in the GFC

I have been a member of the GFC now for nearly 5 months, met some wonderful people and seen alot of wonderful people leave.
I could never understand why my friends wanted to leave such a nice, very friendly place until now.
I created this blog  for the GFC not for myself to say hi look at me I am here as was said to me today in the sandbox but to get the name out there and encourage people to come to sl and join our group.
But unfortunately  there are some out there that don't want this even though its a success and I know that the people who want to reject the blog are reading it themselves.
This is a message to them and to the good people who read the blog,  the blog was away to get things done in the GFC that others have failed to do, this blog being a success is that wrong, should I give up and just leave.
or should I stay and stick it out.
would like comments good or bad.

Just for fun - Caption Competition

We see many sights around the Aeon Sandbox, some 'ordinary', some weird, some bizarre and some completely outrageous. That's part of what makes standing around the sandbox so much fun, especially when people lose their heads trying to figure out what to do next. Well, this morning our good friend Debbydo contacted me with the word similar to "OMG there is a man over there humping himself!!".

Well, as you can image ... it peaked my curiosity so I zoomed in to have a closer look and he was making moves which could easily be interpreted for hmmm well, this is a PG blog, so that is all I will say .... Anyway it gave me an idea, I quickly started taking pics and here is one for you all. This is just for fun, so let's see who can come up with the most creative caption for this pic. This particular animation has him riding forward and back on his butt.

Sad Box Face ™ strikes again

Yaz and Jimmy Sad Box ™  Faced victims

The cube face revenge roadshow rolls on and my latest victims to be hit with Sad Box Face ™ are staff writer Jimmy Vehrous whose practical jokes on poor me will soon approach double figures. But as they say revenge is sweets and the box is a great improvement on the blonde bombshell.

Of course I couldn't resist dropping a sad box on our Klingon Empress. It was definitely a drop and run for your life affair as i had no intention of being chased across 4 sims with a Bat'leth chopping at my high heels.

So remember those who have caged, boxed, bumped poor me into the sea and didn't constantly tell me how gorgeous I am, There's a lovely little sad box with your name on it....Beware, be vigilant, be at your keyboard :)

Debbydo gets revenge

As some of you are aware and  some not I use my mobile phone while at work to keep up on whats going on in the GFC. Using my mobile leaves me with no control over my avatar so all I can do is stand there and I cant see whats going on around me only listen and speak.

Being in this mode leaves me to be a target of practical jokes from friends and other members who like to join in. Well just to let you all beware I do get my revenge and here is some of the evidence of what I can do.
I have a hit list that is getting longer everyday so people be aware Debbydo is there ..... "evil laughs"

Captain Desade crying for help!

Ensign Vehrous having a face change!
Dont forget my list is getting longer "evil laughs again"

Seriously people have fun and keep it safe Debbdydo out !

GFC Bi-Annual Ball Summer 2011 countdown begins

The countdown to the Bi-Annual Ball is once again upon us, the place where ensigns become lieutenants, commanders become captains, where speeches are long, speeches are short and some speeches are quite frankly a bit on the peculiar side.

This years summer ball is expected to be a packed affair with fireworks, music, dance, airshow, AAC Movie and a few surprises.

Congratulations to those who will be getting awards and promotions. All of us here at the blog hope you have a wonderful time. So if 2pm SLT today (30th July) isn't etched into your diary then make a space and pop down to the multi-purpose hall for some fun and frolics at the GFC Summer Ball 2011.

Under his wing

When thinking about my time in secondlife different experiences and people come to mind, one such person is the Assistant Lead of Research Lt.Jg Richard Weatherwax.

When your first clap eyes on him its hard its know what to make of him. On duties he’d be the guy with wings and a research labcoat who is more likely tinkering with one of his toys. Half the time you wont even know what he’s building, in fact usually he doesn’t know what he’s building, as he says “Its in my head so I need to get it out”. In his time in the GFC he’s made (I have been informed) a multitude of weird and wonderful objects.

Flying the gryphon
He is also a pilot for the AAC and a Member of the ASDB ship building division where he’s heavenly involved in writing advanced flight scripts. He scripted the most advanced GFC aircraft to date with the Gryphon and filled it with some incredible features and options I haven’t even touched yet, I’m just happy getting my plane to simply take off :)

At the moment he seems to be juggling like a circus artist two projects at once. One of these projects is something called AWADS (stands for Automatic Weapon Area Disabling System, apparently) something to do GFC weapons deactivating in certain area, sound all gobbledygook to me.

The other product, which I do know something about is the new Mobile Research Unit (MRU), I’ve spent a bit of time in it, chatting with the research guys and moving instantaneously to various locations in the sim. One minute your sitting there in space and next your in the hole of the doughnut in Infinity station. If that wasn’t enough you can fly the mobile office around the sim, its large and bulky though, a bit like Richard’s ego  I expect lol.

                   Richardjrn in winged flight
A few days ago the MRU had a special guest  come visit, Admirial Cobramax Mechanique beamed down to talk to Richard about the AWADS system and show him the The Mobile Unit.

One of Richards other talents is as a DJ and has been heard in Secondlife spinning the decks at reknaw's radio.

If you see him around say hi, but remember, he may not always answer as he’s a mad scientist and has his heads probably stuck in a prim...sometimes literally.

A sad day in the Fleet

Lt.jg Taurik Xaris Relaxing in the sandbox
I have been in the GFC for about 3 months now and have met some wonderful people here.

I started off at the academy where I passed and was given got my first assignment with a wonderful guy who took me under his wing and encouraged me to go beyond my abilities. Before I knew it I was a full member of the careers devlopement team. He gave me my first promotion which scared me as he put on a very serious face and told me to stand up staight and then announced that I was now crewman 1st class which was witnessed by my first appointment Artemis Yeu.

Today Taurik Xaris resigned from his post as the careers development lead with these words.

"Its been an honour,

I have served with you since I graduated from GFC Academy in 2009, I served as Assistant Lead CDO, taking the reigns as Lead in 2010. This time spent with you all has been fun and productive, I can truely say it was an honour to lead you all on this journey. However I will be stepping back a little- walking with you instead of leading. To this end I declare Demeter Slade Acting Lead, CDO until such a time as the Admiralty confirm my successor.

Let's keep this fleet great.
TX."

Taurik, Debbydo & Jimmy eye up a champagne bottle

Though he will still be around to help out he'd be sadly missed especially by me.

Good luck sir and thank you.

Debbydo salutes her lead and wishes him well.

My first recruits

I have just become a full officer for the careers division of the GFC and I am very proud to hold that title as I love meeting new people and helping them to choose the right career path.

Lieutenant J.G.Taurik Xaris observed my interview with the lovely Artemis Yeu and told me I had finished my observation and was now a fully fledged careers devlopement officer. My new friend Artemis Yeu then invited her friend Angelina Firebrand to join our wonderful GFC.

I got a message from Angelina to say she needed to talk to a CDO officer and we arrange to meet to get her signed up for the academy, so off we trotted to the office for her interview.

After we had finished I took her to the academy where I got her to sign up for classes. I wished her well and sent her off to find her place in the GFC.
