New rank Pips available
A set of new rank pipss have been made available in the recruitment office in Galaxy Sims by GFC member Richmerk Resident (merky).
A group announcement was sent out today, it read
"A set of rank pips have been added to the uniform vendor in the Recruiting office. Regular price of the set is 50L$, but is free as usual to Recruiting officers to give out to people.
At the moment, the Enlisted Crew pips do not exactly match the rank system used in GFC, but rather match the system actually seen in the series and movies. Officer rank pips adhere to standard Trek canon."
You can find them in world at http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Galaxy/165/9/55

The new Headquarters Arrives
This Sunday was one of those momentous days in the GFC as the new headquarters build by Timol McMillan came down to replaced the old one which had serve the group for years.
The new HQ features bigger rooms for divisions, interlinking corridors for the new library and new Roddenberry centre. The biggest change for some would be the glass covering the central structure, in the old building it was open so your avatar could even fly straight to a divisions floor. When you enter the building your welcomed to a large foyer. Nothing has been added there so far but will in time. To get to the lift you walk up to the first floor, which has the New Recruitment office and medical. following floors have rooms for the other divisions.
The recruitment office is already fully functional within hours of the HQ being placed and has achieved its first sign up there already. Over the next few days, divisions will furnish their rooms out and other areas at a later date.

BlackRosePhantom Boogie In Two Versions
You know how it is, the party has ended, all the guests are gone and you just want to keep dancing like the Duracell bunny. So you can imagine Richardjrn Weatherwax and Debbydo's surprise when they walked into the Roddenberry centre to find BlackRosePhantom dancing with himself.
As much as he tried to deny it the evidence is irrevertible, videos don't lie :)

Don't trust the pilot ... especially if he is a hologram!!

Exhibit A - a partially embedded MRU

Exhibit B - The outcome of the Pegasus Incident
Have you ever thought about, each time you board a shuttle, plane, helicopter about the fact that you are placing your entire future into the hands of one person .... the pilot? Well Debbydo, Snapper, BlackRosePhantom and myself obviously weren't when we decided to go for a trip on the Mobile Research Unit (MRU) and asked the collection of photons known as Richardjrn Weatherwax to fly us somewhere.
In a moment of binary confusion (I don't know whether a 1 became a 0 or a 0 became a 1), the photonic pilot issued the command to warp to 3000 instead of orbit 3000 with the impending result that the MRU became embedded in the cliffs at the edge of Galaxy (see exhibit A above). In a scene reminiscent of TNG's "The Pegasus" some of us were entombed in the cliff, others partially entombed and some completely unscathed.
I thought Starfleet had learned it's lesson from the USS Pegasus and it's phased cloak technology (exhibit B above). So question is .... has Weatherwax gone mad and introduced phase technology in the MRU illegally, or is there something going on we should know about? Where's Security and JAG when you need them?

St. Patrick's Day Weekend 2012
"Kiss that blarmy stone", "top of the morning to yah" and "mine will be a Guinness" were the words that rang round your ears over the this weekend as, yes, you guessed it, it was St. Patrick's Day, why he needs a day to himself I couldn't tell you because I couldn't be bothered to google it, but suffice to say he had given us a great excuse to party all weekend.
The fair haven bar, last seen during the GFC annual ball was rezzed again, as the doors opened a steady stream of trekkie revelers barged their way in, steering to the bar faster that a mouse finds cheese and ordering an assortments of beverages which had been placed there, all alcoholic I noticed with enough kick to make a donkey look lame.
To get into the party mood Harry Ketterley (Andy Ketterley) had made a wonderful green Irish Trekkie hat which was given away free by clicking one which had been surreptitiously placed there . Also a flag was added so you could drink and wave to Ireland at the same time.
There was plenty of dancing and people did get into the spirit of wearing something green, I hadn't seen so much greens since I had a veggie meal. On the side of the plate of course so it can be flicked off when nobody is looking.
The weekend event started on the Friday evening (European time) and went through to Sunday, so all time zones were covered and there was usually someone on hand pulling the pints and entertaining the crowd as the dancing went on for hours, well, technically days as someone was dancing usually every time I popped my head round the door or crashed out on the bar chair wishing the world would stop spinning.
I'm sure we would like to thank all the team who keep the party going and made Galaxy the busiest GFC sim throughout the weekend.
From me, I'll have a guinness.
Waits....Waits...Waits...How long does it take this thing to settle?

Monkeyman and Isobel's Wedding
Weeks of planning, more bridesmaids costume and hair changes than I care to remember and the day had arrived. The wedding of monkeyman and Isobel was upon us.
Last week Saturday a crowd of friends and members made their way to the sumptuous church which had been erected in the plaza at Constellation.
The guests sat quietly as the wedding party made their way down the aisle, bridesmaids, bestman groomsmen all walking two by two taking their prearranged places at the foot of the alter.
There was much discussion the Skype channel which was running along the precedings.
Finally it was my turn to walk down the alsle with Isobel as I had the honour of giving the bride away.
Fortunately for us the walking animations worked perfectly for us and she made her way up the steps to hold hands with monkeyman and the vows could begin.
Thomas Aker recited the specially written service, the bride and groom delivered their vows and in the blink of an eye their union had been joined in the eyes of their friends.
As the guests cheered the bridal party made their way out of the church and to the short walk across sims to Galaxy to attend the lavish reception being held at the Roddenberry Centre.
The were many chinked glasses and wine drinking animations before the speeches where delivered as Sodak, Debbydo and myself said a few words to the bride and groom before they sauntered off to cut the cake.
After attacking the cake with the sharpest knife they could find it was time for the customary first dance. Monkeyman lead Isobel to the specially rezzed dance floor at the back of the hall as they poseballed their was through the first dance with everybody else jumping in and boogies with all manner of poorly animated dances, yes that chicken dance did make a appearance.
I think we can all agree it was a fantastic wedding and thanks to all the people who came to support them on their special day. 27 people, all members of the GFC came and witnessed them getting married which is a great achievement and shows how supportive the group is when good people have their day.
Special thanks must go to Thomas Acker for finding the wonderful church and taking the service, 6 of 9 (Yalene Resident) for getting everything sorted in the small space of time she had to do it it, Tails Cluny for decorations and Kaori for dresses and fashion tips.

Did you know... Galaxy sim
There are a lot of things in GFC that would surprise you. They surprised me, so I decided to make a series of blog posts about things you probably didn't know about the GFC sims... starting today with... Galaxy Sim!
For instance... did you know...
... that the Enterprise at the HQ building causes you to do some crazy acrobatics?
... that you can walk on the beams of light shining at the HQ building?
... that you have a wonderful view from the huge monument!
... that there's a turtle in the fishing pool? I call him Crush.
... that there's not one, but two litterboxes for cats in front of the Academy? Zhaan must really love cats!
... that there's a door that leads to nothing next to the CDO office? I tried it, it doesn't even lead to another dimension... hmm, as far as I know, that is.
... that Infinity Station (yes, it's still there!) has a transporterplatform with a huge tag on it? Man, that's got to hurt when transporting over!
I'm sure there are more wonderful and surprising things to find in the Galaxy sim... so who knows, I might follow up on this one! Feel free to add your own surprises in Galaxy, in the comments! Next time, I'll take a look at all the surprises in Aeon! Heh, I can't wait!
