Winter Ball 2013

The time for promotions, medals, speeches, fireworks and dancing has come round again, the 2013 Bi-Annual ball is again amongst us, the bi-yearly event awards member for their hard work in the fleet by handing out promotion and medals.

For this years winter ball the theme was andoria (ice planet from star trek enterprise series) with the tag line "Make it snow", the social events team put together a ice cave set, the tables and chairs were fashion in an icy design and a dance floor ice rink was place at the other side of the room, plus a bar for those who just wanted to chill out and take a seat whilst knocking back some serious liquor.

The ball started with an announcement by JD Matova stating the senior admirals will be delayed, Snapper Desade interjected to tell the attendees that a message had been sent and to turn on their sim land stream to listen to the message which is re-produced below.

Once the message was played Fleet Admiral Katrina Bixby & Admiral Cobramax Mechanique were teleported down to the event and the Admiral started the proceeding by calling up members to deliver their speech of the awards and promotions they have been given. Over 50 members had been up for award or promotions, many turned up to stand at the podium and read their acceptance speeches to the audience which tops over 50 people.

Once all the speeches had been done, members and guest went outside for a photoshoot, chairs and stands had been erected for a group photo which, apart from handing a copy of the picture to those who were there, plans were also are to have the photo placed in a time capsule which was on display. Members will be able to drop items in the capsule and we can look back at it in a few years to see what the group was like in 2013.

Keeping with tradition there was a spectacular firework display to close the general proceedings with an bang and then it was back to the andoria set and the dance floor to boogie out the rest of the night.

We would like to congratulate those who received award for their great work over the last 6 months and hope the guest who also attending had a great time as well. We look forward to seeing everyone again at the summer ball 2014.

Free Xmas gifts second week

For the last week in the GFC  free gifts have been given away at the winter wonder land lodge on the grounds of sovereign.

Every day a new gift has been place under the christmas tree and will continue up until xmas day. Only so many presents will be under the tree at anyone time, each prize will be removed after a couple of days so remember to come down regularly to pick up your free goody while its still under there.

Christmas is a season for giving, and GalaxyFleetCommand is giving away presents!

Come visit the GFC Winter Wonderland, find the Christmas tree inside the big lodge, and pick up your gift. We'll try to have something different every day until Christmas. Winter is coming to the GFC

If any of you watch the series Game Of Throne then you'll know the term "WINTER IS COMING" and its no different here at the GFC. Expect to see snowmen, reindeer's and Santa, not to mention lots and lots of snow.

As Picard would "Make it Snow".  

Build a Snowman Competition

If the GFC sims covered in snow wasn't enough a new competition to build the best snowman has been announced. The rules are very simple:

1. Maximum of 32 prims.
2. Nothing bough, only your own builds.

Prize for Best Snowman

Winner 1000 Lindens
Second 500  Lindens
Third    250  Lindens

All entries to be sent to Timol McMillan with the closing date 15th December 2011.
Entries will be placed in both Galaxy and Aeon sims, voting boxes will be made available and everyone will be allowed one vote point so please vote and make it count.

Winter wonder sim land

Winter has come to the GFC good and proper as the place is now covered in snow. The only indication anything was happening was some weather report stating there was a cold front and blizzard on its way hitting the galaxy fleet command estate and laying down a sheet of snow and ice. Even the lake in sovereign had frozen over and people started ice skating using the free skates which have kindly been made available. For me, skates are for girl, so i strapped on my goggles and a pair of bass ass skis.

So if you have some spare time come down, slap a pair of skates, skis or whatever icy paraphernalia you have while doing your best torvil and dean impression.
