Happy Birthday America!

- Happy Birthday America -
Written by Jimmy Vehrous.

Some of you may have spotted a couple of these signs plotted around the SIM the past week, that was your personal invite to Social Events Independence Day 4th of July Party, my that is quite a mouthful.

To say that it was a success is a somewhat understatement, it was a brilliant event and many many people turned up to join in with the fun. We at Social Events had worried that because it's such a massive day in America that GFC members would have more important parties to attend, we were wrong.

As you can see, we were lucky enough that both Thomas Aker and TimoL McMillan provided us with some impressive fireworks which came on display at 5pm SLT. It really was a brilliant lightshow!

Starting at 2PM SLT the party ran through until around 8PM SLT which for any GalacyFleetCommand Party is quite an impressive feat.

A Special Thank You goes to Dave Fearguis and Snapper Desade for providing us with something to dance along to for the entire Party. Another Thank you goes to Thomas Aker who assisted me with Decorating the interior of the 5th pip for the event.

If you didn't already know there were free items available, if you have yet to pick yourselves up with a copy and still want to get one the decorations are still up, but only for a couple more days before I take them down. So pick up for free items while you still can!

Well, it was a great party and people seemed to have enjoyed themselves! I hope that if you did attend you had as much fun as I did. Thanks again to everyone who was involved, and I hope that we can all work together on more projects in future.

Summer Ball 2012 report

The GFC Bi-Annual Summer Ball 2012
The Adventures of Captain Proton! -

Time seems to pass us so quickly these days, it feels like only yesterday that I was walking the streets of Fair Haven. Six Months since that day, and from what I have heard it's been awfully busy!

Well, it was nearing 2PM SLT and people started to gather outside of the Roddenbury Centre; the venue for the Bi-Annual Ball. They were greeted by a new addition to the Ball system where there were free items available to members at the doors, these freebies were:

A Thank You goes to all of the above!

Even the Admiral dressed-up for the Ball!

The time had come, everyone has arrived and taken their seats and the Admiral took to his Podium. He welcomed everyone to the Ball and wasted no time beginning the festivities. Sodak Xeltentat took to the stage shortly afterwards to explain the Ball Movie that was to be shown on the big screen!

The screen was lowered and the movie began, Which I must say was a huge success! I special Thank You to both Sodak Xeltentat and Sereana Westland for their work on the Movie! I personally hope there are many more additions to the thickening plot!

To watch the first half of the movie please Click here.
To watch the second half of the movie please Click here.

You don't have to miss out!

Now it was only the part that everyone was looking forward to, the awards and Promotions. I was going to write down on here the awards and promotions in full, however that would take up far too much room, and take far too much time.

Admiral Mechanique - the mind beam!

Now anyone who looks at this picture knowing that this was in fact the Admiral might be wondering what on earth was going on at the Ball. Well wonder no longer because this was the fantastic RolePlay that took place at the end of the awards.

The Ball was held within the Holodeck and we had all dressed up in traditional Proton uniforms, however someone had forgotten to remove the *real* Chaotica from the programme. Admiral Mechanique had come dressed as Chaotica which was bad news when the *real* Chaotica came storming into the Ball area followed by one of his trusted Henchman and a Robot.

Chaotica ordered the Robot and the Henchman to bring Admiral Mechanique towards the Brain manipulation device, however as the Admiral was placed upon the table Captain Proton and Constance Goodheart entered the room to stop the Evil Chaotica.

Chaotica ordered his Robot and his Henchman to apprehend the intruding programmes whilst he brain-washed the Admiral. Luckily Captain Proton was able to convince the GalaxyFleetCommand staff to help him save the Admiral. After a short confrontation between Chatoica's Minions and the Ball Attendees, Chaotica was forced to leave and the Admiral's brain was returned to normal. Good prevailed!!!

The Adventures of Captain Proton Summer Ball RolePlay Cast:

Narrator - Stones Petty
Admiral Mechanique dressed as Chaotica - Cobramax Mechanique
Fleet Admiral Bixby dressed as Arachnia  - Katrina Bixby
Doctor Chaotica Robobby McMillan
Captain Proton - Dave Fearguis
Constance Goodheart - Debbydo
Chaotica's Henchman - Edward Auxifur
Chaotica's Robot - Jimmy Vehrous

It was a great RolePlay which I was lucky enough to be able to participate in. I'd like to thank any of the Ball Attendees who joined in during the finale.

All that was left to do was to celebrate in true GalaxyFleetCommand style with a great Fireworks display and then a party which lasted all through the afternoon.

So that's yet another Ball over, and another Six Months in GFC history! We've only got another six months to wait until the next one, I wonder what the theme will be?

A special final Thank You goes to both Admiral Cobramax Mechanique and Fleet Admiral Katrina Bixby! To Dave Fearguis for the incredible Ball themed room and to Social Events for yet another great Party!

A final Congratulations to everyone who received an award and/or Promotion at the Summer Ball!

Time to Move on.

A New Project?

The Blog was probably one of the first Projects that I got involved with and now it's time to say good-bye. It's quite a saddening thought to leave this behind but things change, people change and sometimes new adventures await.

Please don't mistakenly think I am leaving GFC because I'm not. I am just leaving the blogging team to the exceptional people who run it. Rumor has it Strategic Operations is having a re-fit.

Of course, leaving GFC news is a big thing for me because I've been a part of it since it first started. Been a part of the team. Over time I have had less and less time to focus on this which caused me to distance myself from the whole team.

My focus is needed elsewhere at the moment so I am making a mature decision to leave this in capable hands. It's strange how things suddenly change and a new world is born. Priorities change and you find yourself wanting something different.

Congratulation to the whole of the team and happy blogging for the future.

My pleasure!! Jimmy Vehrous.

General Meeting in the Sand?

Nothing is beyond Admiral Cobramax Mechanique!

The strangest sight! I swear that I saw a congregation of Galaxy Fleet crew members having a meeting in Aeon sandbox today. Was it just coincidence that this event coincided with the Aeon 5 Year anniversary celebrations or was this a deliberate attempt at creating a sentimental atmosphere.

Well, you heard it here first folks! Admiral Cobramax Mechanique did indeed have the General Meeting in the corner of Aeon Sandbox today! If you find it difficult to comprhend the meaning of this then allow me to explain. Being the meeting that brings the members of Galaxy Fleet Command together at a community event it only seems fitting that after 5 years it should take place at the exact location of the 'Party'.

Of course there have been many other 'differences' in Aeon these past few days including the MRU (Mobile Research Unit) that has been open to all smack bang in the centre of the Sandbox. Usually it's floating some 3000 ft in the air but for the weekend, research have grounded they're creation and have created an exhibition out of it.

The General Meeting was very much like the usual meeting with the exception of the snazzy Admiral's Desk and comfy seats. I was nearly about to suggest we all sit on the sand because it would have been much more civilised than the contraption we ended up perching ourselves on.

Well, nothing explains Galaxy Fleet Command better than this story eh?

Expect the Unexpected!

Memorial Day.

Lest We Forget!

Memorial Day was created shortly after World War One (The Great War) to commemorate all those who died protecting our countries. A treaty was signed which became known as Armistice hence the name Armistice Day.

The poppy symbolizes this event and you have have seen many people around our SIMs showing their support by wearing the Poppy. During the War many MANY people were killed and it took years to clear the corpses, however in that time poppy's grew with rich red petals which late became the symbolism for the soldiers blood.

I believe a similar ceremony took place of Friday (11/11/11) but today again a 2minutes silence took place in Aeon Sandbox. Zeus26 Elman donned his very own veteran outfit to celebrate this tradition.

'Thanks to Andy Ketterly for creating the Free Transferable Poppy'
'Thanks to Janel Doune for creating the War Memorial'

Lest We Forget by Owen Griffiths

What do we forget when we remember
What are the stories left untold
What do we think each November
As we march down that glory road
As we march down that gory road

One hundred million
Don’t come home from war
Another eight hundred million
Who lived to bear its scar
Who lived to bear its scar

Lest we forget
What they were dying for
Lest we forget
What they were killing for
Lest we forget
What the hell it was for

What do we forget when we remember…

The Way Forward.

Which Path Do You take?

The Ultimatum.

There are many different people in SecondLife, each with their own story, their own background, their own personality. It can often be difficult to please everyone but I personally believe it's a good trait to strive for that impossibility.

Galaxy Fleet Command is home to such a wide range of people you often hear about little disputes erupting. Some have since dissipated and others are a niggling truth that we must all deal with if we hope to succeed as a community.

The main point of this article is to allow you to realise that there is never any need for a conversation to go 'further' than it needs to. Yes, there are times that a discussion can get out of hand, but it is what actions you take afterwards that are most important.

I am not one to hold a grudge, and I value the spirit of working as a team. Though you cannot work yourself to the bone to achieve the unachievable. If 'you' do not wish to help me then I will complete this task alone.

There comes a point when you believe so strongly about something that you forget about the other people who support you. Just because your friend disagree's with you doesn't mean that they all of a sudden don't believe in you.

Recently I have come across an ultimatum, one that will change my time in SecondLife forever more. A family of friends has split and I am unsure if the situation can be saved. Does that mean I will not try??

Galaxy Fleet Command is still very important to me, even after the disputes, the history. I have prattled on a little bit but I think what I'm trying to say is that I haven't given up. When times are hard and things seem impossible people say things they don't mean. Everyone does it. We need to learn to move on, let's be a family, a community, a legacy.

Let's realise the potential of Galaxy Fleet Command!

Transporter Accident!!

Seven of Jimmy.

GFC members transported to the Paris in response to a duty call. Unfortunately there was a technical hitch and two of the matter streams collided and merged into one.

Jimmy Vehrous
&
Seven of Nine

Luckily since then they have been separated and  the the two crew members are back to normal thanks to some very intelligent medical techniques.

Away Missions Set to Return??

Return to Botany Bay!!

A while back I released a story that showed you the events of an away mission to a SIM called Al Raqis.

Now, this was part of a Project known as OPFOR which has since closed it's operations temporarily. However does that mean that we should not enjoy some of the events that this organization discovered?

NO!

Yesterday Jimmy Vehrous (Me) and Debbydo ventured back to Botany Bay which has since moved to a new SIM, and boy has that placed changed.

What you see above is the new renovated colony that housed corrupt government and mercenaries. As we approached the 'New' colony we expected a whole different atmosphere, however not 10 minutes after landing in the campus we were attacked from behind!

We were knocked out and placed into what seemed like stasis pods, but they were actually used to torture subjects. Of course the torturing was only a second function of these devices. We withheld all Galaxy Fleet related information from our attackers and though the torture was rather difficult to bare, we both held on with our morals in tact!

Before long our attackers realised that we were not going to release any information and placed us into storage. A few hours later an elite force sent from DS19 rescued us both, took us back to the station and the Doc told us we were fit for duty!

Sound like a good Laugh??

Well, have no fear. Plans are already taking place to bring your right back into the action and bring away missions back to Galaxy Fleet Command.

If the aliens won't come to us, then we will have to go to them!

Keep an eye out for any new information on this!!

Jimmy Vehrous.

Today's Halloween Forecast (Posted Late)

'Theme Tune' This is today's Weather Forecast 'Theme Tune'

'Hello and welcome to today's weather forecast with me, Jimmy Vehrous reporting for GFC weather. Happy Halloween to you all, and I hope the year of 2011 has been as spooky as ever. Well, without further delay, let's get onto the weather.'

(Camera One: Sovereign)

'Well, today we are broadcasting from within Sovereign today. However much to our surprise it is looking rather bleak. I am struggling to stay standing up in these gale force winds, and after getting my tail stuck in my shuttle hatch, it's not been a very goo day so far. A few hours ago we heard that Six and Seven of Nine were both struck by lightning, luckily they are recovering in sickbay with nothing more than third degree burns their bodies, so they are doing just fine.'

(Camera Two: Galaxy)

'Moving onto Galaxy. As you can see on your screens, Petty Officer Dustin is there right now doing his usual rounds of ... whatever he actually does. We at GFC weather love this guy and nothing puts him is greater light that the sunny weather in Galaxy today.'

(Camera Three: Aeon)

'Onto Aeon now, where our correspondent Debbydo has been considering whacking out her winter hair. I guess that would be because the temperature has fallen to a skin blistering -17 degrees. Apparently Debbydo has a wardrobe specifically full of different hair, so that she can pick and choose depending on how she feels.'

(Camera Four: Constellation)

'The Constellation Market is looking like the hot-spot today as snapper Desade investigates. It seems like temperatures have sky rocketed today and if you were thinking about a spot of shopping, today would be the day to head out. Though you'd think snapper would take off the coat and wear something more suitable for the sun.'

'Thats it folks, thank you from the team here at GFC weather:

Jimmy Vehrous
Dustin Sunflower
Debbydo
and
snapper Desade

We hope to see you here again tomorrow, when we bring you tomorrows weather ... tomorrow.'

Please note that this is all fictional and the effects have been created using the SL viewer it'self.

Here with the mates!

So Just sitting here with my buddies:

Jimmy Vehrous (ME)
The disabled Micro, who isn't actually disabled he just liked to sit in wheel chairs.

Snapper Desade
The Researcher who gets bullied, so wears an AAC uniform to look cool even though he can't fly!

Richardjrn Weatherwax
The hologram who thinks it's sunny when it's not.

Debbydo
The girl who found something on the floor.

Darth
The Bunny who can't spell.

Six of Nine
Who is the only Borg I've seen wearing a frilly dress.

The Witch?
Katie Zwilling joined us in the spirit of Halloween.

Not weird eh?

Ten Thousand!

It's hard to believe isn't it?

I know Richard briefly mentioned this staggering achievement but I thought that I would also write a post about it!

I can remember when the team consisted of snapper Desade, Debbydo and me. It wasn't much back then but we still enjoyed ourselves trying to bring you the most up-to-date stories! And now look at us:

This, in my opinion, is one of the best example of a team effort available in GalaxyFleetCommand! We have come together from different parts of the world and created an amazing resource for our members. It was no small task when Debbydo set out on creating a newsletter .... look what it has become.

Did you know that the blog has only been in existence for 6 months? All of this have been achieved in 6 months! Incredible.

We have had RoBobby's Did you Know Posts which have been a massive hit!

There was Rich's progressive story which was a brilliant idea:

Snapper has been informing you about the RolePlays on offer in GFC:

Gokyu has still be updating you on upcoming AAC events:

Six of Nine has been telling you about the Book of Records:

There are so many different stories on offer for you on the Blog, so many memories. This Blog has been a huge success, one that many didn't believe would be so.

I am sure that someone else will comment on the huge pageview figures that we are achieving today so I won't keep you any longer.

Congratulation to all involved and Thank You!
Thank You to the reader, without you this isn't possible!
