Official Summer Ball invites and sim devices placed

This week saw the official invites to the GFC summer ball sent out via group notice and clickable from devices place around the GFC sims.

The theme for the next ball is "Live Long and Prosper" base on the Vulcan location Mount Seleya, partly in memory of the passing of Leonard nimoy this year and a fitting location for any event. An elaborate set has been build for the event as can be seen in the invite and poster designs which breaks from using ancient note cards traditions to delivering the invitations as more creative textures.


The social events team will be revealing more about the ball and offering some surprises before ceremony on July 18th at 2pm.

As usual the ball will promote our most worthy members to their newest ranks and be awarded medals for their work over the last 6 months in the fleet. There will be side events with speeches, dancing, fireworks and a few other activities for that day.

So put that date in your diary for an evening of fun and festivities.

Winter Bi-Annual Ball 2014/15 cometh

The time of year has rolled round once more and the winter ball is again upon the members of the GFC, this years theme as voted by the group is the Orion house as seen in the Original Star Trek series pilot episode "The Cage".

The Bi-Annual ball is GFC's opportunity to award its members for their hard work and dedication over the past 6 months in the group, its where they hand out awards and promotions (promotions from the rank of ensign upwards).

The ball will start at 2pm SLT, but before the start of the event debbydo and Robobby will be on the land stream radio entertaining you from around 10am upto the start of the ball. The dress code will be either Orion theme dress with vendors available to get Orion like skins and outfits curtsey  of Kendra Mollsen (Koreeah Resident) for 50L$ or if you have the GalaxyFleetCommand group tag you can pick up a green skin for free from GFC medical.

Dress uniforms can also be picked up for free from the recruitment office or medical, again main GFC group tag required for access.

For those not picking up awards, promotion or who are guests, suits and evening dresses tend to be a popular choice of attire.

As usual the main event will feature the acceptance of award and promotions. Members will be able to stand up and give a short speech when receiving their achievements. A RP is also planned, as are fireworks and the dance party at the end which snapper Desade will be hosting.

The event is once again scheduled to be held at the Roddenberry centre in Galaxy Sim,  congratulations for all those who are up for awards and promotions, we hope everyone will have a truly great day.

Bi-Annual Ball Not Far Away now

Its that time of year again, well twice that time of year, you guessed it, the Bi-Annual ball roadshow rolls out again where we reward members for their activity within the GFC over the last 6 months.

This summer ball subject matter is "Past, Present & Future", which can be translated to "Where the group came from, where it is now and where its going".

Earlier in the week the invite sites were placed down by the communication division around various locations in the GFC sims. It features a rotating wormhole with an invite in the middle spinning round creating a quite nice effect.

The large resize boards also have a depiction of the ball with a picture of members standing in front of a wormhole which mysteriously doesn't suck them in.

So get your speeches ready, its gonna be a event full of promotions, awards, music, dancing, fireworks, rp's audio recordings and whatever else  the Social Events team has thrown in this year. I've had a look at the ball set and its truly awesome.

New Winter ball ad Site Goes Up

The traditional GFC ball ad unit has been places throughout the 4 sims in various areas created by JD Matova from communication division. This seasons one has a space ship entering a warp field sporting the legend "Warp into the Future". By clicking on the device you will receive and invitation notecard which reads.

First Round Of Bi-Annual Ball Posters Arrive

The first poster for the next Bi-Annual ball has arrived around the GFC estates primarily the sandbox (Aeon sim), outside the Roddenberry center (Galaxy sim) and closes to the tactical area in sovereign sim.

The theme for the next ball is "Engineering" with the tagline "Warp to the future" highlighting the achievements made by those who create content in the group and looking to the future and the next 6 months in the GFC.

The bi annual ball is traditionally where promotions above ensign are awarded and medals handed out for work done in the group over the last 6 months. Above ensign promotions are usually every six months and a year for those Captain and above. You'll need to be a ensign for at least 3 months to be considered generally for promotion at one of these balls.

GFC Bi-Annual Ball 2012...23rd June 2012

In front of the Sim Poster for the Ball and wearing Dr Chaotica and Captain Proton outfit free for members.

As the GFC Bi-Annual ball comes closer more details are being released, unless you haven't be inword and not received the group invite message the Ball will be held on June 23rd 2012.

The ball is held twice a year and its where medals are handed out for great service to all members and promotions for officers. There will be speeches, a specially made video created by GMTV, Event RP, Free giveaways, fireworks and a party and more.....

The theme for the ball is Captain Proton, not only is it one of the best ball sets created but it will have the most free content ever produced for a ball or possibly any GFC event ever. As of now there are at least 5 specially made outfits to wear, many during the event and a whole Avatar to give away, with a few gadgets thrown in.

Quite a few things will be planned for the ball on the day, more info closer the date and more articles will be published about it and the people who help make it happen as we get closer the event.

Summer Ball ad's go up

With only a week to go until the Summer GFC Ball 2011 the new Ad boards has gone up around the sims including one holding pride of place in Aeon's sandbox. As many of you may know, the theme for this years summer ball is "The Search For Spock". I wouldn't spoil the fun with more details, but suffice to say there's some interesting and surprising events lined up so its one not to miss this year.

No expense has been spared with the new ad board which stands out more as its not an ad on a screen but a small platform which contains an eternal flame, what seems to be a backpack at the bottom of an alter and three screens, one depicting spock from the movie of the same name, another which is a more traditional style poster and in the center what looks like one of those word search games with star trek related words hi-lighted on it. Its a very effective design and props goes to all that were involved in its creation.
