How We Celebrated TNG 25th Anniversary.

This weekend we celebrated the 25th anniversary of the premiere of the series Star Trek: The Next Generation by having a set version of 10 forward made and placed in the Roddenberry Centre.  Throughout the weekend, people partied, hung out and reminisced about the series, crew and cast.

Everyone likes a bit of a dance including therabbit1971,Koreeah, Lillian Aries & Admiral (shake a leg) Cobramax.

There was a healthy stream of people coming through the bar door over the two days it was opened and actively manned, not only regulars came along but new people came down, enjoyed themselves and joined the group. The intention eventually would be to find a long term place for people to be able to access the bar when they feel like it, more than likely having it as a holodeck scene.

There was a little dare involved :)

Kudos to those that dare wear the man dress, Langy, Kal, Dustin and Snapper, we salute you.

Jaielan Resident created a copy of the skant outform which was a skirted outfit which could be worn by both men and women, so it was interesting to see which male avatars dared show their legs to the world and a couple took. the challenge.

For those who attended the bar over the festivities there were given a free geordie style visor primmed by Andy Ketterley.

This weekends General Meeting (GM) took place in a specially made set  based on Q's courtroom from the first TNG episode "Encounter At Farpoint". The meeting took the format of those reading their reports standing on a circular podium where a spotlight shines on them from above and they'd have to read their report in the manner of being interrogated by the Q. Once their reports were finished the rest of the attendees would be asked to vote if they were satisfied with the report by stating "aye" or "nay". It was a fun way of doing a GM and hopefully more of this kind of thing could be done in the future.

Quinn Game mastered a special TNG rp playing the role of  Jean-Luc Picard, the story had Wesley being kidnapped and the crew of the enterprise went on a mission to find him, it was later found that the Q's were involved and one of the continuum came to the ship and took their captain.

The rest of the crew were made to justify humanities existence by being teleported to Q's court and one by one asked to exonerate their actions in the spotlight, wrong answers could have them and the rest of the crew removed from existence in the universe, but fortunately the Q's took pity on them, regarding the crew of the enterprise as a backward mishmash of races who are likely to do more damage to themselves than others. The Q's sent both Wesley and the captain back to the nearest earth starbase and allowed the rest of the crew to return to their ship.

Overall it was a fun weekend and congratulations to TNG for standing the test of time.

Celebrating 25th Anniversary At The GFC

Its hard to believe Star Trek the original series is 46 years old, but 25 years ago this week was another milestone, it was when the next generation blasted on our tv screens. You remember those screens, the boxed shaped one which actually had buttons on them where you could change channels and we use to simulate stereo by shaking our heads left and right very quickly.

We all loved the charactors  Picard (sexiest man in the universe at one point if tabloid magazines were anything to go by), Riker (the man with the john wayne lean walk, more laid back than a reclining chair), Data (fully equipt android apprently), Troi (I'll try any alien male at least once), Beverley Crusher (And didn't we all have one on her), Wesley Crusher (we didn't have one on him, the traveller couldn't take him far enough away), Geordi (I can't see a thing but i'll do your electrics), Wolf (Today would be a good day to die, but trek aliens can't fight, can't aim, couldn't kill a fly that has already surrendered), Tasha Yah (seriously, you got killed by Tar man).

And to help celebrate we'll be getting into the spirit of things at the GFC with parties and events to remind us of how TNG helped spawned nearly 20 extra years of trek series.

To start things off a version of the Skant Uniform seen in the first episode has been given away to members in a group notice. The uniform was supposedly unisex, but people just called it the man dress.
Let see how many guys are daring enough to put it on. Me being as brave as a klingon at the heart of a battle, I flung it on quicker than a transvestite at Mardi Gras.

B&W Dress Uniforms For The Ball Pick Yours Up NOW!!!

With this summers Bi-Annual Ball theme being Captain Proton outfits have been specially designed to fit in with the theme and decor. Ordinary at functions like these members were required to wear dress uniform which tend to have a splattering of colour which may have seemed out of place in a B&W set environment so Timol McMillan kindly made available B&W versions of the Dress Uniforms to help you blend in with the monochromatic theme of the event.

GFC Bi-Annual Ball 2012...23rd June 2012

In front of the Sim Poster for the Ball and wearing Dr Chaotica and Captain Proton outfit free for members.

As the GFC Bi-Annual ball comes closer more details are being released, unless you haven't be inword and not received the group invite message the Ball will be held on June 23rd 2012.

The ball is held twice a year and its where medals are handed out for great service to all members and promotions for officers. There will be speeches, a specially made video created by GMTV, Event RP, Free giveaways, fireworks and a party and more.....

The theme for the ball is Captain Proton, not only is it one of the best ball sets created but it will have the most free content ever produced for a ball or possibly any GFC event ever. As of now there are at least 5 specially made outfits to wear, many during the event and a whole Avatar to give away, with a few gadgets thrown in.

Quite a few things will be planned for the ball on the day, more info closer the date and more articles will be published about it and the people who help make it happen as we get closer the event.

Star Treks 45th Anniversary Event

If there's one thing we know to do in the GFC is party, so when the 45th anniversary of the original Star Trek (TOS) series first airing came round the team from Xenomusicology were on to it like a shot and to celebrate had erected a TOS set resembling star treks first bridge.

Harmonic Manipulator's Gandalf Nakamura & Snapper Desade were on board with Gandalf opening the celebrations. Constellation sim started to fill up with members and guests donning their TOS series uniforms, yes you've got its, ladies in very short mini skirts and boots, almost an excuse to bring back the 60's.

But the entertainment was only just beginning as we had 2 hours of live music played on a custom made stage with kirk, bones and spock cutouts strategically placed by a paper mache looking rock. Singer Keeba Tammas belted out tune after tune with her strong voice which delighted the watching crowd. She even had a little blue bear playing guitar on set, not sure if it was part of the act but was entertaining all the same, it put a smile on many of the revelers faces.

The second live act to play for us were Erin68 Frog and Satin Galli who's brand of duet and sultry voices wooed the on looking audience with a gentler tone.

As more and more people piled into Constellation we topped the 50 visitors mark and the party was really flowing, you've never seen so many Trekkies getting down on a dance floor.

It was left to Snapper Desade to wind the party down with some more Harmonic Manipulating and once again the GFC showed SL that we sure know how to celebrate, organise an event and party like its the 24th century.

Thank you Gene Roddenberry for not only creating a great show but a great philosophy for us to aspire to and Xenomusicology, plus all those who helped us celebrate it.

Hopefully we'll be there to do it again on the 50th anniversary.
