Sophie's Rez Day Party

Its hard to believe that around a year ago a red haired Avatar entered the Aeon sandbox and ended up helping create a football pitch. Well, that avatar Hydregion Resident (better know now as Sophie Johnson) has come a long way since then, boasting the rank of Lt.Jg and previously being a tactical assistant lead who has now transferred over to being the assistant lead at medical, not including her regular Rping and permanent activities in DS19 and has been integral to its resurgence.

To celebrate her rez day and say a little thank you Social Events and Richard Weatherwax help throw a little party for her in DS19's bar, plenty of people came in to wish her a happy rez day, dance and knock back the synthehol which was on offer.

I'm sure Sophie would like to thank all those who came along to say hi.

One of those weeks

Its been one of those weird weeks which gets no weirder than ponies at DS19 bar..I kid you not colorful rainbow ponies knocking back the fruit juice like it was water to a thirsty man. Now, we've seen some strange sights in the bar but a pony lap dancing.....Even I had to recheck the content of the glass I was drinking....Liquid = Check, 60% proof = Check, enough alcohol to kick a mule off a stool = Check.

We also had "Talk Like A Pirate Day"....Yes it is a day....People were encouraged to come down to the beach in sovereign, throw on some piratey costumes, eye patch, wooden legs to shiver their timbers and Ooh Arrr their way through about 8 hours of dancing and tales of pirate like acts upon the open waves or maybe sovereign lake which ever was more likely to be plausible.

Daleks Host Sophie's Party

The bar in DS19 threw another one of its strange parties this time for Sophie Johnson (Hydregion resident) celebrating her redeployment from Tactical to Medical, as she arrived in her Tardis (all sorts of stuff come through the worm hole) she was welcomed by a bunch of guests and a Dalek bar tender, yep you heard that right, a Dalek was tending the bar for the party, special drinks for the occasional were the Davros Double and Dalek Martini (exterminated not stirred).

The Dalek was on good behavior and promised to allow everyone to live at least until the end of the party. As the beatles once sang "A good time was had by all".
Is that what you call a tip, "Exterminate, Exterminate"

Watching Mars Landing in GFC

Live stream of the landing from Nasa
To celebrate the landing on mars of the latest Nasa rover Curiosity, Screens were place around various points of the GFC, being the sandbox, DS19 bar and onboard CWC wolverine which was parked 100 meters or so above DS19 station.

The Wolverine had an RP to run up to the event with a live screen up there to follow the landing as it happened. Some chose to watch in the sandbox, while a crowd gathered in DS19 bar to view the landing together and loud cheers ran out the moment it was announced Curiosity had hit the Mars surface safely.

You could watch a selection of Mars Rover related videos by clicking the screen

DS19: Male Trill Takes to the Pole

You see many strange sights in the Bar at Prosperous Station located high in space over sovereign sim, but not much stranger than a buff male trill doing a turn of the dance pole. For those who witnessed it, therapy and free counseling has been offered. Though the medical advice has been that there isn't any reliable data unfortunately concerning the long term effects of onlookers synaptic pathways who witnessed the half naked trill in green shorts with cut out shamrocks on his behind shaking his galactic bootie.

Relay For Life Poetry Exhibit

Early morning on DS19, the station is quiet, a few “night-owls” stroll along the promenade deck, some coming from Quark's some on their way to the popular Ferengi establishment. One night-owl walks into Quark's expecting to hear the usual cacophony of voices in conversation, the loud clinking of glass upon glass, and shouts of “DABO” followed by the laughter of the winners and the grumbling of the losers.

But it is as though she has suddenly lost her hearing. The sounds she hears are quiet whispers, soft laughter and polite conversation with the occasional clink of glass upon glass. Looking around she blinks her eyes to verify in her own mind that she is truly in Quark's and not in the Bajoran Temple and Meditation Room. She notices photographs lining the second floor walls of Quark's and the patrons of the establishment moving from one photograph to the next pausing to read the words that adorn the photographs.

The night-owl stops at the bar, orders a Saurian Brandy, her favorite drink, and walk up the spiral ramp to the second floor to see what everyone finds so interesting.

POETRY! Haiku poetry at that. Verses of three lines containing five syllables, seven syllables and five syllables again. “But they don't even rhyme!”, exclaims a slightly more than inebriated patron again and again as he moves from photo to photo, haiku to haiku.

The night-owl enjoys the Star Trek inspired haiku and the Star Trek related photographs that were matched to each. But when she finishes reading the last haiku after her second circumference of the room, she is curious as to why there is a poetry exhibition in Quark's. Descending the spiral ramp brings her face to face with the DS19 Station Commander, Kaori Juliesse. Who better to ask then the person in charge of the entire space station?

“So, Commander, why is Quark's promoting this haiku poetry exhibition? It is certainly out of character for the famous chain of Ferengi bars”, the night-owl inquires.

The Commander smiles politely, having answered that very same or similar questions at least thirty times that day. “The poet, Starr Jetaime, felt she would be able to help increase the amount donated to Relay for Life in Second Life, by displaying her poetry and asking the people who attend the exhibition to generously donate to help the American Cancer Society because it is Time For A Cure.”

So come on by the DS19 space station in the Sovereign sim of Galaxy Fleet Command in Second Life, and enjoy the poetry and make a generous donation to the Relay For Life and help find the cure.

Stuck...

DS19, Quark's bar. Everything seems to be as it should be. The music is on, there are people sitting at the bar, drinking their cups of tea, ale or some sort of exotic drink. And there is a Commodore stuck in the wall.

Wait...

What?

I honestly didn't mean for that to happen... but that's the thing with the Emdash multitool: if you double-tap an arrow key, it dashes you twenty meters ahead. And sometimes that gets you stuck in the wall. Like now.

It's pretty annoying actually, not getting out of the wall. But at least my feet are a nice place for people to hang their jackets, wouldn't you say?

All Green With Envy Of DS19's New Barmaid

With the recent regeneration of DS19, expect to see a few new faces appearing around the station. One you may notice is a cute Orion barmaid serving the drinks with her stimulating chat and a bird called loony perches precariously on her head.

If you see her on one of your journeys to Quarks Bar, say "Hi" and order one of the many drinks from the replicator.

Freeze Frame of GFC Blooper Video Released.

Sparroe - DS19 - R % R

As members of the GFC news blog, we get inside access to special information earlier than the usual public release.

Today's special information was the sneak peak to the upcoming Blooper reel!

As you can see below miss Sparroe looks like she is having difficulty displaying what she calls "Dance skills taught to her by Mikhil Baryshnikov himself!" However actually she just took a tumble and this picture was taken "Mid-fall".

But, this picture joins archives and archives of similar photo's of our Avatars looking ... not so glamorous.

But what is important is that these photo's are a memory, a history, a legend, we are making the footsteps in the sand.
One day when this Blog may ... or may not be disused, someone will stumble across it a follow the footsteps.

Welcome to GFC History Folks!
It's here to stay!

(Please note: Blooper reel is fictional, Only used for content)

Can you see how things can be misinterpreted?

I make mistakes,
you make mistakes,
we all make mistakes,
and we always forget this fact!

Sometimes a little bit of Self analysis is in order,
instead of pointing out these mistakes
what can we do to help them correct it?

GFC is a communal effort,
We cannot ridicule one another for mistake making,
Let's drop the hostility and unite,
Live the Dream.
