Did you know - Automatic Bridge to the Island in Sovereign

Stepping on the round sensor to                                       will extend the bridge

Some of you who walk or fly around sovereign sim may have noticed the island in the middle of the lake, but what they may not know is you don't have to fly or jump in a boat to get there. A simple way is to walk across on foot.  Once you stand or walk on the pressure point at the shore an automatic bridge will extend across the water for you to stroll along to the center.

The bridge has a detector so after a few second of no one standing on it, the bridge will detract leaving the lake clear again for sailing and speed boating.

Did you know... Sovereign Sim

The last edition in the series of 'did you know...' articles is about the youngest addition to the GFC sims... Sovereign. It's different from all the other sims, since it doesn't have any kind of buildings or offices on it. Except the tactical arena, of course.

So what can be found in Sovereign? Well, a lot! For example, did you know...

... that you can sit, stand or lay just about everywhere?

On a bench, with lights that go on and off!

Against a pole... no, not that kind of pole.

In a tent...

On a picnic rug

In a boat... which doesn't go anywhere, sadly.

... that there's an open fire in a grassy area? Way too dangerous!

Someone call the GFC Fire Brigade!

... that there's a pack of ice skates on the pier, but there's no ice!

Ice skates... near water... well, someone's prepared already!

... that in the sky of Sovereign, the USS Galant set looks... uhm... incomplete?

Some things, like doors, or Engineering, are missing!

... that the Klingon Bird of Prey is actually from the Mirror Universe? (and, coincidentally, what does 'Qangon' mean anyway? It's not in the Klingon Dictionary that I have, and believe me, I checked! :P)

See the distinctive Klingon/Cardassian mirror universe logo!

... that the Defiant is a very comfortable place to sit on?

And the view is nice too!

... that there's birds everywhere!

The nearly extinct Cobrus Bixbus...

This bird was just mocking me!

... that the island in the middle of the Sovereign lake is floating, *and* that it is made from the latest phase cloak technology?

Floating?

Phase cloak! Without the cloak!
Of course, there's a lot more to know about Sovereign... we have barely touched DS19. Or the RP sets in the other sims, for that matter. But that's for another time...

Did you know... Constellation sim

Here were are again folks, the third Blog article in a series of four, covering the entire GFC estate. Today, Constellation. This time, it was a bit more difficult to find things that were off, wrong, funny or strange... because the sim had just had a complete overhaul. Nevertheless, I did manage to find a couple of things. For instance, did you know...

... that you can actually climb up the stairs to the turbolift in the middle of the sim, which goes to the GFC Conference Room?

stairs to the turbolift

... that the Duty Officers and GFC Security don't agree upon the alert status of the sim?

Black or green alert?

... that besides the lawn, there's other things in the rezzer that can be put in the middle of the sim? (Like this, which is apparently a swimming pool for Micro's!)

Swimming pool for Micros!

... that there's a non-functioning holodeck in the sky? (at least, I couldn't get it to work...)

"Computer, I asked for a relaxing beach, not a transporter!"

... that underneath the ground there's lots and lots and lots and lots of walkways, which nature is trying to retake!

Bolders find their way through the ground!

... that it's difficult to party in a club which first has to be rezzed?

"Of course we don't *need* a club to party, but it would be helpful..."

... that there's leftover firework jars spread out across the sim?

What if one of those went off when someone picked them up? Medical, stand by for burns!

... that the stargate rises up from the ground?

An ingenious system!

... that on board the Voyager set, the doors in Engineering *and* the jeffries tube doors open the wrong way?

A less than ingenious system...

... that some of the items being sold at the mall are... uhm... well, let's just say I can't really see this becoming the standard uniform for women in GFC...

Not that I mind if the women here wore that... hehehe...

... that GFC has freebies to give out? A nice clock, or galaxy PJ's! And set of GFC sports clothing, but that hasn't been set as 'for sale' or 'free to copy' yet.

Clock, sportswear, Galaxy PJ's

Well, there was more, but this is enough for now. Hope you enjoyed it... next time we'll have the last part of this series of articles, and we'll look at Sovereign then! Enjoy!

Did you know... Aeon Sim

There are a lot of things that aren't general knowledge throughout the four GFC sims. Things that make you go 'huh?' This is part 2 of a series of 4 blog posts, which looks at those amazing, fun, odd and strange things. Today... Aeon Sim!

For example... did you know...

... that next to the Aeon sandbox is a small area to sit, where you can actually get some tea? And not from a standard Starfleet issue teapot either!

Can't say I like the decorations of this teapot though...
... that someone stole the 's' in 'Operations' and 'Headquarters'?

where's the 's'?

... that you can actually open, close, lock and unlock the airlocks of DS19 from the Engineering office?

Engineering's way of making sure someone dies horribly?

... that there's a Jeffries Tube in the Engineering office that brings you directly into the office of the Security Chief?

An escape route!

... that our Security Chief is a devout worshipper of the occult clan known as 'Holy Doors'?

All hail the Chief of Security's door!

... that the sign of the office of our Inspector General uses Windows? And that it is always busy?

Ethan is always busy...
... that Security violates its own no-weapons rule?

Help! Help! Weapons!
... that the Library has a permanent resident? (we call him Johnny.)

And doesn't he work hard!
... that the 'Fifth Pip' is haunted? (A tribble and an ancient PADD float in mid-air!)

Who ya gonna call?

... that the deuterium tank near the sandbox is *still* leaking dangerous chemicals? It's a good thing Medical went to Aeon, since there's bound to be people with respitory problems!

Breath in deeply folks...
... that the entire top floor of Medical is empty, except for one homely decorated office?

Oooh... counselling is back?
... that a stray pointer points at absolutely nothing in Medical?

'Bad news I'm afraid... the readings are off the charts!'
... that we have a drydock next to the Aeon residential Starbase?

But where's the ship that fits in it?

... that there's a hidden texturelab in the skies above Aeon?

Shhh... it's a secret!
... that Taurik left one of his CDO PADDs in the Ajax conference room?

Does Taurik prepare Admiral Mechanique's speeches?
... that after a long day of searching every corner of the sim for something interesting, odd, strange or funny, it's very nice to relax at Risa!

Odd indeed, that the trees are in the water!

That's it for me this time, folks! Next time... Constellation!

Did you know... Galaxy sim

There are a lot of things in GFC that would surprise you. They surprised me, so I decided to make a series of blog posts about things you probably didn't know about the GFC sims... starting today with... Galaxy Sim!

For instance... did you know...

... that the Enterprise at the HQ building causes you to do some crazy acrobatics?

you spin me round and round...
... that you can walk on the beams of light shining at the HQ building?

walking on light...

... that you have a wonderful view from the huge monument!

Nice view!
... that there's a turtle in the fishing pool? I call him Crush.

Crush...
... that there's not one, but two litterboxes for cats in front of the Academy? Zhaan must really love cats!

Did a cat just visit here?

... that there's a door that leads to nothing next to the CDO office? I tried it, it doesn't even lead to another dimension... hmm, as far as I know, that is.

door to... nothing?
... that Infinity Station (yes, it's still there!) has a transporterplatform with a huge tag on it? Man, that's got to hurt when transporting over!

Ouch...

I'm sure there are more wonderful and surprising things to find in the Galaxy sim... so who knows, I might follow up on this one! Feel free to add your own surprises in Galaxy, in the comments! Next time, I'll take a look at all the surprises in Aeon! Heh, I can't wait!
