Parties in the Phoenix Station Bar

The GFC's gorgeous looking Phoenix Station Bar saw plenty of action this Saturdays as two events were held over the day.

First between 12am to around 2:30pm the AAC (academy air corp has a party).

AAC Dance
Diabetes event in action
Later in the evening starting a 6pm and finishing at 9pm the place was rocketed to it cores as an event to bring some awareness to Diabetes was held by Social Events division.

We were glad to see those who come along and bothered to show up for such a good cause, especially those from other trek and sci-fi groups who came to celebrate a common cause and to dance the night away, you compassion and generosity were all appreciated.

This was a celebration for paying off a $25 million Diabetes Research Facility and this year invested over $900,000 in research, every little helps.

More fun from the Diabetes event
The dance was linked with a RL event which was happening simultaneously in the US at Sandpoint Eagles Club #589 Sandpoint Idaho in association with the diabetes charity JDRF.

Hirogen invades the Station

Phoenix station security cameras detected a breach, the images seems to show a Hirogen hunter searching for prey, eye witnesses, those who survived spotted him in the station bar and engineering floor before he made his getaway by Stealing  a Gryphon MK2 and escaping through the wormhole.

The carnage and body count he left behind is unknown, but the clean up crew will be busy for sometime. So if you see any Hirogens around your options are limited to one recommended action....RUN!!!!

Its advised we keep an eye out as I have a feeling this wont be the last we see of the Hirogens.

Phoenix Station Baby Delivered

The GFC is no stranger to delivering infants, sometimes they are even humans, today was one of those days when the Phoenix Stations medical centre heard the pitta patta of little feet as a call came through over the chat channel that a mother to be was needing assistance.

GFC's medical staff were on hand to help successfully deliver the baby, mother and child are said to be doing well.

If you in need of a quick exam for your species, why not pop down to phoenix space stations medical centre.

Enterprise visits phoenix station

One of the requests Admiral Cobramax Mechanique asked for when the bar at phoenix station was being design was to have some sort of ships outside. The original thought was to have a large texture depicting an Enterprise docked, but it was thought that it may make it look disjointed. Richmerk had a solution by putting out a model Enterprise which circles round the station 24/7.

Its a really cool sight when you're in the bar and at the corner of your eye you see this ship sailing idly past and also quite cool flying outside the station and watching it navigate itself around.

So if you've got a little time to spare, come down and check it out.

Sophie Celebrates Birthday In And Out Of World

As you know from this blog the GFC likes as good party and will whip out a dance ball at the drop of a hat so when Sophie Johnson's  (Hydregion Resident) real life birthday came round this week we threw a little shindig in the Phoenix Station bar and could only imagine how she was celebrating in real life and secondlife at the same time.

Medical Monday RP - The Rejoining

Summary:

As the episode opens, the Trill Ambassador's ship has returned, after the Ambassador suddenly suffered a traumatic symbiotal rejection. The ship performs matching protocols and then and the symbiote is teleported into the holographic recreation of a symbiote healing pool temporarily erected in the isolation lab. The host is teleported directly into the stasis tank.

The emergency surgical team works quickly to detect and correct enzyme imbalances that might have resulted from the forced rejection and prepare to rejoin the host to the symbiote.

Suddenly alarms go off, warnings sound. "Security breach. Engineering and Medical levels have been penetrated. Intruder alert. Hostiles positively identified as Borg."

A Borg penetrates the Isolation Ward screen and approaches the surgical team. Security is summoned and a pitched battle ensues as the doctors work to complete the rejoining. The Borg intruder finally falls to the concerted weapons of the security team and the rejoining can be completed. The nanite infection scans of the area indicated that airborne nanites were released by the attackers. In Engineering and elsewhere, the battle continues.

The rejoining is touch and go, but the medical team finally stabilizes the joined Trill and she begins to recover strength.

Suddenly she spasms violently and sits up rigidly.  The biosigns jump and she leaps off the table at Doc Songlord, screaming, "RESISTANCE IS FUTILE!"

New Edition to the Pheonix Station Bar

This new edition was included with a recent shipment to the station that originated from the delta quadrant.

It was a  gift from an intergalactic one man corporation JensTech (Jailan Resident) which got word of the new station and its phenomenal bar. A matrix display which allows info played on the land stream to be represented in text or embedded frequency scope for some added visual effect.

Be sure to check it out in action at the Phoenix Sci-Fi Bar HERE

If you would like to buy one there are two versions available on the SL Market click links below.

New Edition to the Pheonix Station

Wolfie relaxing after all his hard work
Our new recruit C3C Wolferine Foxdale was already on his first task of building a monument for the mall in the Phoenix station, carefully monitored by myself keeping him in line :)

This is just one of the amazing things which have been going on in recent months with the young recruit working a long side cadet Richmerk. Together they have made the phoenix bar and I look forward to holding many events here.

A job well done.

New Bar Beams Down

Like a thief in the night the new bar in phoenix station was slotted in place for all to see. It's a much large area than the previous temp bar that was in place before or Quarks bar in the the other DS19 station. This one is significantly bigger giving more space for dancing  and more options for placing activities around the bar area.

A theater section has been added with genuine type movie seating so people can watch the latest streaming content. Its a distance enough away form the bar so not to interfere with peoples enjoyment there. Movie nights here we come.

From the get go in the design concept was the bar needed to be spacious and not cramp, capable of supporting different area's where people could be doing their own kind of things, but not feel too far away from the central focus point.

The dance floor had been made roomier with a gorgeous sketch like animation on the floor and ceiling which has to be seen. If you look careful at the DJ table you'll notice the legs are actual upright enterprise ships, "So Darn Cool".

Windows surround the room so you get a view looking off into space at ships that maybe docked or flying by, adding a more space like feel to the place, reminding you that though cosy, your still on a space station.

Below the Bar you will find a mall section which will be where vendors can sell an assortment of items. There are 4 ports where ships can dock using the free docking system which will be made available to add to their ship builds allowing pilots and captains to fully immerse themselves into connecting with the station as you would if you really wanted to fly there.  To get to and from the ports you'll find two styles of doors, one a TOS type of sliding door, bring you back to that old 60's feel and another more metallic circular iris type you would have seen in some sci-fi movies. From the Mall floor up to the bar you can't miss the tree's with cube leafs which add something very original to the establishment.

If your ship can't dock then you can always fly into the groups largest hangar bay and make you way up from one of the available lift stops. There's still more work to be done to the area, adding activities and some little touches along the way.

We are happy the way its coming together to create a place people have already said is a nice cosy welcoming area, a nice place to chat, relax, party and hopefully we'll be adding a few surprises, so watch this space in space.

Star Child

If your innocently travelling around Phoenix station (Prospero Station) and hear the wailing of babies crying it isn't some of the builder screaming about prim alignment but could be the new pediatric area in the station's medical centre. Small incubator like beds have been set up where babies can be looked after through variety of treatments, before long the place will look like a alien nursery with tiny Klingon shouting
"DaHjaj SuvwI''e' jIH." and baby Vulcans realizing how illogical bed sheets are.

Battles, Satellites, Missles & Coloured Trails

You know when you have those days when things just happen one after the other. This Wednesday was a bit like that. first the CWC Wolverine ship a regular visitor to GFC sovereigns airspace requested permission to approach the space station.

There were a few mumbles from pilots hanging around the station, maybe they had a bit to much synth ale. Permission was granted but it wasn't long before we felt the station shake from a shelling.

On looking outside a modified mig like fighter with space flight capabilities were firing on the the CWC ship, bombarding it with missiles. Not to be a total sitting target and to their surprise the Wolverine put up its shield and prepared for battle.

Ops officers on the station were monitoring communication and were able to get a copy of the intercepts which you can read HERE.

After the conflict and though damaged with repairs under the way, the captain of the CWC offer those who wantedt to watch nasa launch its Tracking and Data Relay Satellite-K, TDRS-K on the big screen he had in one of the compartments in his ship. Its always fun to sit back and watch a bit of real life trek like sci-fi being a reality.

View video link HERE

A few minutes after the launch it was time to goto the regular wednesday AAC event. Damian flew his large ship down towards the USS Paris and we taxied our way across the flight deck in one of his shuttles.

The AAC event this week was in two parts, first flying in a fighter but only being allowed to use missiles so you had to wait for your plane to get a lock on a target before firing as you watched your missile try to follow the movement of the ship your aimed at hoping the pilot wasn't able to shake them off. It was a fun event and a nice way to do combat.

The next event was more relaxing and it was flying an acrobat plane around the airbase. The jets had the capability of creating different coloured smoke trails so it was suggested we choose the colour associated with our AAC squadron and lit up the sky in a myriad of colors.

Santa Abandons Winter Wonderland To Deliver Presents

Santa Earlier This Week

Santa has been very good to us in the GFC over the last few weeks as he's happily been manning the Winter Scene in the stations holodeck. But as its Christmas he has a job to do getting all those presents dropped off so he left us a note to say he was going to be away.

As compensation a sled has been left where people can sit in for a ride around the Christmas tree.

Monday's Medical RP: DAY OF THE NANITE

Doc Songlord:  Medical Log
Chief Medical Officer of Phoenix Medical
Admiral Cobramax Mechanique: Greetings. I have urgent orders. To begin, you are to initiate research on nano-phages  Something to kill nanites in situ. This must be done as quickly as possible. In fact, its top priority. Under special dispensation 455.6, you are authorized to use captured Borg drones as experimental subjects, if necessary. Under that special dispensation, the prisoners health and well being is protected, but he may be used as a donor for nanites and as a barometer for the efficacy of a vaccine.

And so it begins...

The GFC Medical team assigned to Phoenix Station begins a research effort to isolate a way to safely destroy nanites while inside a humanoid; an effort that brings new problems and issues at every step. From the ethics of nanite research using Borg prisoners to the effects of sonic feedback waves on the substructure of the station itself, the medical team must overcome every obstacle encountered along the way to their goal, a cure for nanite infestation and it's complement, a vaccine.

Nanite samples, taken from a Borg prisoner are decompiled, disassembled and analyzed at a molecular level in an effort to isolate any indications of weakness or vulnerability, The nanites immediately show signs of adapting to proto-vaccines, and even infecting the sensors being used to analyze them. In an effort to prevent further infestation and system corruption, Razor builds a self-contained analysis unit, confining the nanites in a Klein bottle type apparatus that isolates them, even from the very sensors that analyze them. Even as the research continues, the nanites, through a mechanism of their own, begin to evolve into invasive mode and self-replicate. At the same time, Da5id discovers that the Borg prisoner is a Unimatrix Zero adjunct, and has the potential for individuality.

Razor discovers that the construction of the blood nanite  is non metallic. It appears to be  a silicon based form, maybe  a complex glass that Da5id was able to identify as mono-crystalline Boronitride. Ai isolates the grouping of frequency bands that the nanites are using to communicate. In an attempt to disrupt those frequencies, she generates a pink noise pulse on those frequencies. Initial tests were not encouraging, so the researchers try exposing them to heat. Ai programs in a wide band pink noise signal and causes it to be broadcast throughout the station.  The nanites immediately break containment in the isolation ward and attack Da5id's neural implants, leaving him trapped in the isolation ward. At the same time, a piercing high sonic wave permeates the entire station, and the entire lab begins to vibrate.

End of RP

Unwanted Guests

With the station rebuild well on the way, it didn't take long for an unwanted guest to sample the bar. I know this is suppose to be an area where the spirit of Roddenberry lives and we should welcome all creatures with open arms.

But the moment a cockroach appeared on the bar it was phasers out, fire and ask friend or foe later. The immediate Vulcan logic was kill it.
